4 promotions, 3 relegations. As a result we are one division higher than when I started watching & are better supported & (although not technically owned by the club) we have a better stadium & training facilities. On the downside it is a lot more expensive to go to games than it was back then in real terms & the economic situation of the town has deteriorated.
3rd relegation for me too. Hopefully to be matched by our 3rd promotion. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
I think it was goals scored divided by goals conceded. I seem to remember it was replaced by goal difference to encourage teams to score more goals. Or summat like that.
2 relegations(2001/2002 and this year) 1 promotion. Wasn't really old enough to remember much of the prem year, got my first season ticket in 1999. To be honest, there has been some good moments in that time, some bad ones too. We'll be back!
25 years old. Supported Barnsley 17 years. Seen one promotion (05/06) and three relegations (97/98, 01/02, 13/14) 2 Play Off Finals FA Cup Semi final Not all that bad supporting us.
5 Promotions and 4 relegations for me, this relegation didn't hurt as much yesterday, feels worse this am, reasonably confident for next season...for me the relegation which got me most was last time......followed by the Prem......we could easily have stayed in the Prem with a bit of luck and without the intervention of the Tw@t (GW).........best promotion obviously to the Prem followed by the 81 promotion, first time I saw grown men cry at the football, the promotion v Grimsby also good......
Me too. Up until Danny Wilson came in being a Barnsley fan was a broadly quiet experience, although we couldn't have come any closer to the play-offs than we did under Mel Machin, I remember how dodgy Alan Clarke's last season was, and Viv Anderson's time wasn't great and I think we were lucky that Boro came in for him. I remember the second spell with Clarkey fondly. Some good footballers in that side including Paul Futcher, Joe Joyce, Steve Agnew, Steve Cooper, David Currie. Maybe it's rose tinted spectacles but things were much better in the 1980s and 1990s. Sadly I came in a touch too late to recall the great Glavin, Aylott, Banks side.
