Got to admit only time I haven't been optimistic was going into the Premier League - excited but certainly not optimistic.

Feel like we can kick on this time and there are teams like Wycombe and Rotherham who will find it just as hard as we did last season.

Pretty hopeful, I think if we hang on to all our players and continue the momentum from last season then we can be fine, which is great. I'd be more optimistic with more signings, I know it's unlikely for a team like us to be like "WOW" when we sign someone, but it'd be nice haha. I don't buy a lot of fans on here saying we're fine/covered in most positions and only slight changes needed.. There's always better players out there. Just my two cents.

I’ve gone from optimistic to hoping at time’s but never passed the red line of despair, individual games excepting of course.

Im more optimistic than this time last year. We have our young uns with a season behind them at this level and a coach who knows how he wants to play and the staff are basically the same.
I guess as long we dont do anything daft and sell our 3 best players (or our entire coaching staff)in a week and replace with more kids...i think we can do ok and avoid a relegation scrap.

I agree with you on Point 1. I've only seen highlights of the two friendlies, like everyone else, but we seem to be making heaps of chances, which we don't convert. This was our downfall last season, when we dominated many games for long periods of time. I'm more interested in more forwards and midfielders chipping in with goals, than I am of acquiring a new striker.
On Point 2, I disagree. Losing 2-1, by way of a penalty, to a Premiership side in a friendly, does not overly concern me.

Really think it won't be a struggle this year, some of us may be moaning about mid table mediocrity by March, but looking at the end of last season and seeing what the Manager can bring to the club in style and ability to play good football it looks hopeful.... ..keep the faith COYR

I think we will probably finish about 10th if we continue to improve as we have recently. I can't see us finishing in the bottom third.

We would have done 'ok' last year if the team hadn't had the spine ripped out like some whitby fish. This year, at the moment, there is no stupid, greedy sale and the players are more savvy and stronger. Top half at least (at the moment).

Personally don’t think you’ll see much difference from last year.
Will dominate games and lose more than we win, that said, I think we will stay up in the high teens in terms of positions

Many people said that if the season had started when GS took over, then we'd have been comfortable.
I'd take a mid table finish in Gerhard's first full season.

    Hopeful.
Also, hopeful that we're going to sign someone who can finish all the chances we create. Hopeful that Mowatt will sign a new contract.

Somewhere between 7 & 6. With Struber & the right backing, may be six or even 5.

Depends if we sign someone that can score goals I don,t have the confidence in our current forward line.

I'd imagine we'll be 10 short of that figure.

Be interested in seeing the starting XI for both games. Be alarming if the same Newcastle team played each time.

on 2 : if we had converted the chances we had then it wouldnt have mattered.

Need that danger man up front who is clinical. Thought that was Woodrow but Struber seems to have other ideas.

Think we will lose our unknown quantity under Gerhard now and with no real additions to the team again we will be looking to avoid relegation again.
