Secondly it's a British right wing myth that people are queuing to come here. Yes people want to come here to work, but the same is true of Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Germany etc etc We're not in any way unique in that respect.

And whilst you're being so proud of us being great, why are you happy to accept a 3rd rate government response to an international pandemic. Why aren't you expecting a great response?

 

No you're wrong. You can explain your opinion to somebody as many times as you want but they don't become racist if they don't fall into line with your world view.

That's simply not true. I'll tell you why I don't think I'm racist. It's because I'm not racist.
I also think that all lives do matter. That every life matters. I think that with regards to police brutality in America that is the key message that needs sending to the police. When they draw their gun on a suspect or force them to the ground the need to remember that every life matters. Police brutalise and kill anyone. It isn't a police versus black issue it's a police power trip issue. The message to the police has to be 'wait, stop. Every life including the one in front of you matters regardless of whether they've commited a crime or not'.
That message is a much much more helpful message to be sending out than black lives matter which is just a slogan to be honest.

Black lives matter refers directly to the killing of black people at the hands of white people. We can pretend it refers to not getting a good job or to having a statue but it doesn't. The words have meaning and that meaning is quite clear. The LIFE of the black person in front of you matters. Not giving that black person respect, treating them equal etc, it means their LIFE matters. I've don't kill them.

I've absolutely no problem whatsoever with equality, educating people about the struggles that black people face growing up, the racism they face (which should be reported in local media much more often to shame the racists) and the lack of opportunities in certain communities. But the three word Cummings style headline title black lives matter is quite harmful imo for a variety of reasons, not least that I have no doubt it leads to more black deaths at the hands of police because it escalates the cycle of fear.

Put yourself in the position of a black person in America. All you hear is that police target black people to kill them. The thousands of white people who are killed are hidden from you. All you hear is police kill black. Over and over and over. It's worldwide news, you hear it constantly. You get pulled over by the police. You are absolutely crapping yourself. You're waiting to be killed. you will do whatever you can to protect yourself. Pull a gun on the officer? Perhaps. Make a run for it? Maybe. Resist arrest? Almost definitely. Quietly put your hands together and offer yourself up for arrest? Not a chance. The problem is that because of your fear you've just massively increased your chances of being killed.

Now out yourself in the position of a cop. You pull over a black guy. What do you do? All you're thinking is oh crap he's likely to resist arrest here. He's possibly going to pull a gun on you. There's a good chance youre going to get attacked while you make this arrest. Your hand is already on your gun because you are scared. Your fear has just increased the chance of that black guy dying massively.

The idea behind black lives matter is right, nobody can argue with the sentiment. But arguing that you believe it's a dangerous movement with a terribly worded headline that creates a cycle of fear and death does not make someone racist. Highlighting that no it isn't just black lives that matter. Police shouldn't be treating black and white people differently, they should be treating every life they encounter as an important life and should be doing all they can to make peaceful arrests or investigations. Highlighting that doesn't make me racist, it means I want the amount of people who die to drop massively but think the only way to do that is to focus on the actual problems not the perceived fear led problem.

Tbh I’m sick and tired of writing there’s nothing wrong with thinking all lives matter, posters have said this on this forum times many it’s well documented .
If your using it as a retort or a bite back when someone mentions the civil rights movement BLM then it’s a racist act choose how many lines and paragraphs you write defending it .
You never came on here saying all lives matter before you’ve only mentioned it when BLM came to the fore .
All lives do matter to everyone no one on here not one poster has denied this.ive done now posting why it’s a racist act you live with what you think but if you use ALM as a but to a civil rights movement then that’s your problem .

 

I said all lives matter years ago on here actually. I've posted about police brutality on here many times in reference to both black and white victims but hey, because you didn't see it till recently in a racist.

So do I. I've never judged anyone by the colour of their skin, their sexuality, or the religion they follow and will call out those who do, irrespective of who their detractors are.
