Foden Grealish Mount Madison Ward-Prowse I'm not including Rice/Henderson as more defensive, or Sancho/sterling etc. as more forward.
Mount will play, he doesn’t stop working in any minute of the 90. And he can play abit too which helps. The other obvious choice is Foden. I’d try squeeze Grealish further forward and drop out Sancho(don’t get the hype at all). The middle 3 id love to see Mount Rice and Foden. I’m a huge fan of Ward-Prowse too. He’s got a tough job with this squad has Southgate, I hope he nails the selection and formations where previous managers have failed.
Personally I’d like to see a 433. I don’t think Southgate would prefer that myself but we cannot waste this attacking talent we have in my opinion. I think Southgate prefers the attacking wing backs. I’d go with Pope TAA Stones Maguire Shaw(on current form) Foden Rice Mount Sterling Kane Grealish But If I did this tomorrow I’d probably have a totally different 11. I suppose that’s why Southgate earns X amount of millions a year to make these tough choices.
That's a very exciting team. Which is why Southgate probably would never pick it. Plus it doesn't tally with his back 3 shape. tbh I prefer yours to his. Not TAA at the mo though. Plus I used to think Mount was a runabout average trier. He isn't that now for sure. Mind you, one or two posted on here that Grealish was a "show pony" a while back. So I'm not alone in pathetic assessments of budding talent.
4-3-3 D Henderson; Trippier, Maguire, Stones, Chilwell; Mount, J Henderson, Grealish; Rashford, Kane (c), Sterling. 5-3-2/3-5-2 D Henderson; Trippier, Walker, Maguire, Stones, Chilwell; Mount, J Henderson, Grealish; Kane (c), Rashford.
Inspired by Ismael's 3-4-3 Pope Stones, Mings, Coady TAA, Phillips, Ward-Prowse, Saka Sterling, Kane, Grealish I know some of them aren't currently in the squad.
We have to go with Pope on the season he’s had. A premier league regular. I understand the argument for Henderson as a solid number 2 but he has to play every game from now until the end of the season to even be in contention for me. That isn’t a guarantee, although he’s the best goalkeeper at Manchester United. Another positive to this squad is we have 2 or 3 competent international goalkeepers, where previously we were praying to have just one.
I don’t think they’re competing for the same spots. Mount will be battling for a deeper role alongside Henderson and / or Rice. Foden can also play there or in the front 3. Ward-Prowse also a deeper role. Maddison & Grealish will only be considered for the forward roles in my opinion. Anyway, Foden’s one of the first names on the team sheet for me. He’s brilliant but I don’t think I’d play him in the front 3. I’d probably go - Pope Trent Stones Maguire Shaw Henderson Mount Foden Sterling Kane Grealish I do think we’ll fail though. There’s been no consistency in selection & I think we’ll turn up with a bunch of lads not used to playing with each other whilst France, Spain, Germany, Belgium etc will turn up with relatively settled sides & it’ll show.
Not against Pope playing, he's a very good 'keeper. But I think Henderson is better. Irrelevant anyway. Gareth will go with Pickford, who in fairness, has never let England down.
I agree, I do think Pickford will start the game against Croatia. I’m comfortable with any of those 3 starting. I’m not too sure on Sam Johnstone getting called up to the squad mind, I’m hoping that is a one off. What I did find bizarre was Southgate admitting after the game he knows the 11 that will play against Croatia already, how can he know what 11 he’s going to play when we’ve seen numerous different sides in this thread. The depth of the squad is ridiculous this time around.
Got some gd lakers to pick from. Pope Trent maguire stones chilwell Henderson rice Grealish mount rashford Kane If all fit.
Mason Mount looks better each time he plays. Similar in style to Frank Lampard - not a bad comparison.
