    IMHO

he's no way the best, but he's not everage either.

Not worth breaking the bank for but worth a good wage to keep.

RE: Howard is THE best Midfielder in this league

If he is the best, there are an awful lot of bad ones. He isn't worth the £5000, let alone £8000. Probably one of the reasons our forwards don't score enough is because he is too concerned at trying to make chances for himself instead of making them for someone else.

thing is though Johnson, i totaly agree with everything youve said. But, if you pay peanuts - you get monkeys. and we aint gunner pull those extra three thousand in if 11 monkeys are on display.

we need to splash the cash on a striker. that's basically all you need in this league.

If Da Silva is so much better than Howard

why did he end up at Barnsley, surely if he is so good then other Premiership teams would have wanted Da Silva?
I think Da Silva is a good player, but he aint that good.

The fact that pic next to Howard story was of Steve Foster....

    shows how much they know.....

Usual Media.... interview Chairman push him to say some thing they can make a story out of something like:

Interviewer: So Mr Cryne will Brian Howard be a Barnsley player come September
P Cryne: We want him to stay he's a quality player.
I: But obviously there will be some interest in him, everyone has a price. What is he worth?
PC: Looking at what some players go for these days you've got to say he worth £10 Million

End of interview....... press then run the story Reds put £10m price tag on star Howard!!!!

Interviewer then goes to see Howard......

Interviewer: I see Barnsley are looking to cash in and have put a £10m price tag on your head.
Brian Howard: Its news to me
    I: are you worth £10m
BH: I'm flattered but I wouldn't think anyone would pay that much for me, would they?
Interviewer: what about a new contract
BH: haven't spoken to the club as I'm on holiday. Now **** off!!!!

    Interviewer then phones his boss
Interviewer: Right gaffa I've got the scoop, Howard doesn't think he's worth £10m. He's not been offered a new contract and hasn't spoken to the club

Next morning its in every paper!!!

Simon Davey rings Bri: "Boradar Brian"
    Brian Howard: "al white Gaffa"
SD: "have you seen this mornin's papers"
    BH: "Nah boss"
SD: "Reckons you aren't happy at no been offered a new deal"
BH: "well I did speak to some reporter fella yesterdy, but said nothin like that"
SD: "ah no worries then our Bri, see ya when you get back from Benidorm"
