"Blades & Q.P.R only teams who have made an offer he prefers Q.P.R" AND "Already bought a flat in London" I was half with you until you said that. How longs the season been over? How long does it take to look for and buy a house? Doesn't the club your moving to sort out your digs until you've settled. Surely this would be part of the personal terms of a contract (relocation fee's etc.)? Bit early in the day for owt like that.
If he signs for QPR and the blades for that matter he's a mug. He can do better than both of those. Then again, although I'd love him to stay, the more teams who are interested the better becuase we can negotiate a higher price. We shouldn't let him go for anything less than 3 million.
RE: out of contract next summer? int he out of contract next summer? we would b lucky 2 get 2 million if he is!
I wouldn't let him go for less than £2m. I could see him going to QPR. If he goes to Everton or Villa he would be on the bench mostly. At QPR he will start. And they will go up to the premier league as their owners will not accept anything less and will spend as much money as is required until they do. Also its nearer to Howards family. As for Sheff Utd lets choose to think that he loves the Reds so much that he doesnt want to move to one of our local rivals
Howard will be playing for Barnsley next season He is not good enough to play in the Premier League, 1 goal against a ***** 3rd choice keeper at Anfield does not make you Steven Gerrard. As for his contribution to last season, take away his penalites and his strike rate is'nt that smart - although still better than any of the forwards but that's another story!!!! Our Bri is a decent Championship player with flashes of brilliance, but the inability to show these flashes on a weekly basis will cost him a big money move to the Premiership. Of years gone by relating to service to Barnsley FC, put him up against Redfearn and Hignett and he would come third everytime without a shadow of doubt. I't's good to see SD clearing out all the deadwood, although the Togwell one bemuses me, an excellent squad player at this level and I can only think similar to the McCann situation that Toggs wants first team football regularly. I think if we could raise close to a million with the players that we have listed, plus the 1million that we'll get for Muller (cos he won't hang around on the bench) I think we could go out and attract 3/4 decent players. David Connolly and Ross Wallace are 2 players that are certainly available. Dean Lewington (MK Dons LB) is a BBS favourite and I would love to see him in a BFC shirt. That leaves us needing a decent central midfielder incase of the unlikely event of Howard leaving and the fact that ADS may not be the same again after such a horrific injury, if you look at decent players available I be tempted to go for someone like Stellios Gianakopolus who has just been released by Bolton Wanderers. An injection of quality and experience Is what we need, throw in a couple of loan signings here and there and we could e back at Wembley before you know it! Have a good summer folks. Up the Reds. CT
RE: Howard will be playing for Barnsley next season Toggers wants to play every week and isn't happy with his standing with us, which I can't blame him about. Would love him to stay but he's not going to be given a fair chance with Davey.
Bemused about the valuation of Howard on here He has been chosen in the best players team in this years Championship team Other players and supporters from other teams rate him very highly.............so why do our daft supporters on here talk about under selling him at a knock down price of £2 million Brian Howard is worth at least £4 million at current prices............................end of/full stop/period Even at that price I don't want him to go BUT............... If we do sell him, I've every confidence in Simon Davey and Pat Cryne to spend the money wisely and strengthen the squad
I'm reminded of the old saying "You don't know what you've got until it's gone". Brian Howard has been a great servant to Barnsley and, in my opinion, IS capable of playing at the highest level. He'll be very difficult to replace, as goalscoring midfield players are not exactly ten-a-penny. If he were to go (and I hope to God he doesn't) then I, too, have every confidence in Patrick Cryne getting as much money for him as he possibly can and providing Simon Davey with a big enough budget to improve the quality of next season's squad. On a final point, why do some Barnsley fans make disparaging comments about goals being scored from the penalty spot? Do those goals count less? Do penalties always result in a goal? I've seen Barnsley greats like Ronnie Glavin, Neil Redfearn, Darren Barnard & Craig Hignett all miss from the spot. I've never seen Brian Howard fail.
It Will Be Sad When He Leaves......... but he's just a football player. The club will still be here and we will move on without him.
We WILL miss his goals & creativity It will be up to either existing or newly signed players to step up to the plate and take over his mantle.
In my opinion We'll struggle badly if he goes. I'm absolutely certain we'd have been relegated this season without him. We'll have to bring in some serious quality if we're going to change that outcome next season.
I agree Next season's strikers (whoever they may be), especially, cannot be the passengers they were in 2007/08.
RE: Can't see it Me too. QPR a stadium smaller than ours, decrepit, not a great fan base. Bernie could have chosen Brentford or Leyton Orient. No chance of expanding the stadium, they even tried WhiteCity in the 60s.
Yes SD knows this........we made great strides in all departments except strikers.....but but after saying that...........even the strikers we had last season are better than the ones we had in the season before Tommy Wright Marc Richards Hayes Versus Maken Odejayi (dunt score much but freetens defenders to deeath) I'm sure there will be a couple of quality strikers in for the coming season - its the one area we are really weak in
odejayi: 4 goals in 9 months richards: 4 goals by september. you're right, last season's were miles better.
