    I Remember When....

huddersfield had steve bruce has manager and 3 players on £10,000 per week. those were andy booth, kenny irons and ken monkau. and they were like 10 million in debt too and still did better incentives for fans then our management do.

I think we should look at your stats

    Firstly average attendance:
Huddersfield average attendance 12,752 (not 16,000 as you stated)
Barnsley average attendance 9,013 (not 8,000 as you stated)

    http://www.soccer-stats.com/divisions/attendances.asp?divno=3&orderby=7

There's also the populations you quoted. You used the town of Huddersfield against the metropolitan area of Barnsley. The statistics for Barnsley are for a 127 square mile area that includes many small towns and villages.

    http://www.barnsley.co.uk/about_barnsley/stats.html

However, for Huddersfield you merely used the town of Huddersfield itself. A much fairer comparison would be to use the district of Kirklees which has a population of over 388,000.

    http://www.statistics.gov.uk/census2001/pyramids/pages/00cz.asp

Or if we were to just compare towns Barnsley has a population of only 80,000 compared to the 119,000 of Huddersfield.

Having said all that, I think the many incentives and cheaper prices offered by the Huddersfield board (and the general excitement they created during pre-season compared to our 'be thankful you have a club') have contributed to higher attendances.

Do the stats take into consideration clubs of higher stature in the locality, the influx of out of towners into the towns during the season ie students and those of an ethnic diversity who tend to shy away from football matches?

    Bare In Mind......

has someone who lives in huddersfield i know that non huddersfield fans watch them. this is because the uni is like 10 minutes from the ground so people away from home would rather watch huddersfield then no football at all.
