I have never shot anyone so I'm not guessing here but I reckon that shooting somebody in the organic through a car windscreen is a pretty impossible task unless you have got bullets that can go round corners. I'd also suggest that if they pepper spreayed the windscreen it would have done nothing at all on account of the rather thick glass between the officers and the armed man.

Oh and they don't wear body cameras because we don't have those in standard use in this country, you're thinking of America where they fall off or fail daily creating even more suspicion.

    Here's the facts.
    The police stopped his car
The police shot him through the windscreen
He loaded gun was then found right next to the piece of scum who was thankfully laying dead.

As for people not involved having to bury a loved one, well every single person who knew him must have known what he was up to. He was driving around in luxury cars, had been arrested several times in the past and had a very bad reputation. If those who loved him so dearly didn't bother to shop him to the police when he was ruining other people's lives then morally they are just as corrupt as he so I have no sympathy for them.

Presumed innocent until proven guilty is the term you need.

If you've ever been involved in carrying firearms for protection, you would know that there is no "shoot in the leg" policy. People that do this for a living are taught where the kill zones are, the last thing you want is for someone you've shot to be able to shoot back at you.

Not much chance to be 'presumed innocent' when he's shot dead within 30 seconds of being stopped . The police said that there was a gun in the footwell but thats only their side of the story, they havent been whiter than white over the years have they . Trigger happy cops is the last thing we need . If he was such a well known criminal why wasn't he already locked up ? Seems to me that the police and justice system have failed miserably . It almost like ....' well we can't pin anything on him so let's go and shoot the ******* ' .

The gun found was a loaded semi-automatic 9mm with a 'sound modifier'. Not the type of gun carry round just to scare folk with.

I'm sure the police had good reason to open fire. We don't know all the facts. But like others say, carry guns, expect to one day get shot.

Im no police lover or choir boy but they did right they have family's to go home to and why should their lives be in danger for some drug dealing gangster. What did you expect them to do that night? He had a loaded gun with him wait until he opens fire? The guy was cleared of attempted murder after a shooting a few years ago when the two main witnesses withdrew their evidence conviniently. Play with fire get burned..... no sympathy

Maybe try a little harder to arrest him and put him in front of judge and jury rather than being convicted by a bullet. We're on seriously dodgy ground if we take the ' shoot first talk later' attitude .

IT IS ILLEGAL !! No other way to put it. We do not live in the USA, thank God, The Police are not a firing squad and it is their job to arrest him. If they feel they cannot do their job, then they are in the wrong line of work and maybe they should go work as something else.
Now I understand that this lad was a proper scumbag of the highest order, but in this Country , we have proper procedures and taking what I have heard from one of the Armed Police squad in West Yorkshire, unless the Police have actually seen a weapon, then they should never open fire.
One of the passengers in the car had a loaded gun, but it was concealed. This operation was based on a tip off that the car was carrying a consignment of weapons, not drugs.

He was asked to put his hands on the steering wheel where could be seen he reached over instead what should they do wait until thhey see the gun pointed their way. Thankfully we don't love in America and things like this are very rare.

Don't know what news programmes you watch Redrum but all the reports I've seen say he was sat in the passenger seat and haven't mentioned anything about Police interaction with the suspects , other than they shot one

No, I'm asking you what should have happened. They are outside the car with glass between them, he is inside the car and reaching for a gun. What should have happened next?

According to ‪@mwilliamsthomas‬ he held a gun to a women's head a few days ago. He's an investigative reporter. His twitter feed makes for an interesting read.

    Also says:

Opening of inquest into fatal shooting of Yassar Yaqub heard he was in sat in passenger seat & handgun was found in footwell #M62Shooting

So don't know where folk are getting the refusing to put hands on steering wheel.

We don't know all the facts.

It will all come out as part of the investigation but I'm pretty sure it will conclude that the police did not act like a firing squad and had no choice other that take the action they did. There are times when shooting somebody is the only option, that is not the fault of the officer and doesn't mean they're in the wrong job.

Maybe I read the wrong reports about him driving but according to police he reached for something and they opened fire. He was found with a loaded gun in the footwell with a silencer on it. Play with fire get burned if he had a normal job instead of been a drug dealing gangster who carried guns around with him he would still be here now. But then again he wouldn't ba able to afford his lambo with a normal job I know I can't.

The first part of your question is factually correct but you have absolutely no proof that he was 'reaching for a gun' . My overall point is that none of us were there so to presume this, that or the other is plainly guess work .

So put yourself in the cops position for one min. Maybe a guy with a young family? A wife or loved one? You have been told you are stopping a car carrying guns. Driven by, or carrying a known, dangerous suspect. He reaches for 'something', despite being asked to keep his hands clear.
Now if he'd been reaching for his AA map, I'd be feeling pretty shitty about my actions right now if I was the copper. If he'd been reaching for a 9mm semi automatic modified weapon, I'd feel justified. Not gloating, or gung-ho, but pretty justified.
Remember next time you watch a crime drama that glorifies the tension of the decision making process. But this was real life. What would YOU have done in that split second? My guess is that you wouldn't be here to give your answer.
