Isn't that the exact opposite of what happened? Some didn't like him because of his lack of effort, others voted him player of the year because of a few goals despite his work ethic. Pretty sure I don't remember many people saying 'that hugo doesn't score many' or 'colace is our hardest working player. Even hemsworth tyke never claimed he was a grafter and him and hugo were at it more than bobby and matt.
I liked Colace. Wasn't as good second spell but first time round he was great. Would fit well under the way we play now.
He was a passenger in too many games. The good things I saw of him was his passing and occasionally a good strike. Maybe he will be better in a less physical league like the one you describe. Bon chance!
He was on that garnier advert, flicking his head from left to right a lot of the time. Nice hair though...
When he finally got a work permit to play, he looked pretty good. Broke play up well and was the shining light in a team that otherwise fell down the table towards the end of the season. The season after, he looked very lightweight, pulled out of tackles and was more of a liability rather than an asset on the field. He did manage to find goals that season, 8 in total I think. However I was completely bemused when he was voted fans player of the season, very strange in my opinion. After a summer of is he staying or going, rumor has it Hugo was down in London signing for Crystal Palace, before taking a taxi all the way back to Barnsley to sign a new deal. After that he was awful, struggled to get in the team by the end of the season and was eventually sold back to the team we bought him from 3 years before.
