I probably haven't understood this at all But many humans have dogs and cats as part of their family. These people haven't stopped at species have they?
Excellent point.
I see what you mean but we'd have to ask ourselves - if they've become part of the family haven't they switched groups? And do these peoplecare what the Koreans are doing to dogs and cats? On the whole speciesism isconsidered to be morallyacceptable whereas racism is abhorred. Philosophically speaking - what's the difference?

RE: Excellent point. I think lots of people are very uncomfortable with anyone harming (or eating) dogs and cats. Speaking from a personal point of view I value the life of humans above that of animals whatever race of human. I abhor animal cruelty, but I eat meat. Although I only ever buy British meat and tend to go for free range or outdoor reared, but it's still killing animals. I'm against animal testing for cosmetics and the like but I find it acceptable for new drugs which may save the lives of people in the long run. On the other side of the coin we have a monthly direct debit going out to the RSPCA. I guess I'm a hypocrite and a speciesist, but we're all quite complicated in what we think and I'm comfortable with my own beliefs even if they won't hold up to scrutiny.
probably there often is with charities. If you look long enough and hard enough at anything you'll find fault.
I think it's fair to say that many charaties probably waste a lot of their funds, but I think on the whole, the famous ones at least, do more good than harm.
Well keep control of it Cos if it sh!ts in my garden the feckers dog meat i would be described as a "dog" person rather than a "cat" person
RE: Well keep control of it If you were having a problem with my cat I would hope you'd come and talk to me about it and I'd do my best to find a solution.
Good honest summary.
Ithink it goes for a lot of people but they normally don't see it. We know speciesism, like racism,is morally wrong but not being racist doesn't adversely affect us. As soon as we have to sacrifice something the morals go out of the window.
