That's mp rubbish for a start we are not free to wear what we want at work, and a mini skirt in school is no more appropriate than wearing a vail. Certain jobs have dress codes and rightly so, the pupils are required to wear a school uniform (I assume!) so the staff should follow suit and wear appropriate clothes, of which a vail covering your face is not one.
RE: That's mp rubbish for a start my daughter works part time at a store in Barnsley. Has to wear a uniform. When she used to be at school the girls were told that they couldn't wear skirts above the knee.
Sorry I was not quoting completely, he was referring generally that people are free to dress as they wish, he had already stated that in this instance in the school it was not suitable.
Loads of stupid legal cases happen all the time lots of people get pay offs when they shouldn't do, at least partly bcos of the blame culture that has spread from the US. it just so happens that this one revolved around someone's interpretation of islam. Most people, incl. most muslims who have been asked about it, disagree with the woman's case. And she lost. So common sense prevailed (no pun intended). I think this says more about the nature of the justice system and how people are too quick to sue nowadays.
I'm not surprised people are getting the wrong end of the stick Just seen front page of Sun and from that you'd think she'd won the case. Contrast that to the Daily Mail which says she lost her right to wear the veil.
RE: I'm not surprised people are getting the wrong end of the stick Nobody said she'd won the case. The original post was all about disgust in relation to a cash award, even though she was wrong.
That was a late tackle mate - normally just a yellow but you hurt his feelings a bit so I'm afraid it's a red.

RE: I'm not surprised people are getting the wrong end of the stick I was referring to the front page of the Sun though - which makes out she won. The "victimisation" award is entirely seperate to what the case was about. It's like if you were sacked and claimed unfair dismissal but that wasn't upheld, i.e. the tribunal said they were right to sack you but because they didn't follow procedure you still get a compensation award. They didn't follow the due legal process, hence the award.
Your argument is flawed matey Beginning to end.
I NEVER suggested she had won, and I had carefully read the Sun's report.

makes no sense whatsoever..... the end result is exactly the same... there should be no award to her at all... if anything, not following the correct procedures should have attracted a fine of some sort to the school, not by awarding her a grand... whether or not they did follow correct procedure, would have resulted in her getting the boot, end of.
So... They were right to victimise her, but in doing so they were wrong. How are you supposed to uphold any law or regulation if in doing so you are victimising the person who has broken that law.
Thats the law Nothing at all to do with the details of her case. The school didn't follow the proper procedures in dismissing her so were ordered to give her a bit of cash. No matter how barmy a situation is, employers have to go about things in the proper way, including dismissing people. The same thing wouold have happened if she was sacked for lots of other reasons. The main thing here is that she lost her case, and quite right too. The grand award is really unrelated to the details of her case, despite what the Sun might want people to think.
I've seen his house He lives in a dilapidated bungalow on the outskirts of Thatcham with 50 cats. It stinks of piss, he's let himself go, it's awful. Careful what you say Weegie.
RE: That's mp rubbish for a start Hey hey steady mate we all know what happened to the last person who had those kind of pictures, besides that's my daughter and if you insult her you'll reap the wrath of her mate....er .... Megan !!! Now that's got you scared eh ??
