He also said if the fans or the manager doesn't like that, one has to go. Im 100% behind LJ. We also have to accept that just like the squad of players, he is a young and fairly inexperienced. We therefore have to tolerate some inconsistency with his decisions as much as we do with the players. I am willing to tolerate this and I'm sure he is the type to learn from his mistake. What narks me is individuals criticise him and general want managers out when they don't meet their personal views of the game. There are an equal number of people, perhaps significantly more who have a different view. Games all about opinions and viewpoints. I just hope we back him fully, long term and let the league games or not govern his success. of course we as fans do have a right to voice our opinions.
You're not 'supporting' him or his philosohy at all though, you constantly criticise him, his team selections, his tactics. Not calling for his head is far from offering 'support'. Unless you're turning over a new leaf?
Don't think there's many called for his head, yet... But it's a fairly familiar cycle isn't it. Every September / October the rumblings and narrative starts, by November the experts have fully identified every wrong move the manager makes and it's only his stubbornness that is stopping the manager realising their masterplan, and by December/January it'll be "this fella ain't got nothing, we need to get rid of him before transfer window so the new guy can get his own men in and all the fans leave". Every season is like groundhog day and for me that cycle is genuinely more boring than any of the football I've seen served up this year. I don't think the reason people jump on negativity is not because they don't think people should have an opinion, it's that for the most part people want stability and don't want 3months of negativity and undermining the manager and then another sacking. Insanity is doing the same things repeatedly and expecting different outcomes. Or maybe that's just me. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
Sorry fella but Lee Jays philosophy leaves him wide open to such criticism. I pay good coin to watch the Reds and will comment as I see fit. I would like to be entertained once in a while. I want him to succeed, God we need some stability, but if he fails to learn the error of his ways the outcome, irrelevant of yours or my opinion, will be a parting of the ways. 3 points today with a more positive display would be most welcome. Your Reds!!!!!!!!
This is board is for the fans. It is not for the club. If Johnson or Mansford are reading this board and allowing it to influence their decisions then more fool them. It seems you have spent time composing that post and trying to sound poetic or learned, but I have to completely disagree with you. If and when the club achieves something it will be praised. More often than not it will be criticised for a number of reasons. Johnson is entitled to a reasonable period of time to get things right. It's not up to me or anyone else on here to say how long that should be, but if we are still playing this tedious brand of football and floundering in mid table come early bird renewal time, he will be gone. You can show him all the patience you like but you do not speak for the dwindling masses and when the attendances drop below 8,000 it will show that people are not convinced by Johnson's "philosophy".
He's offered financial support by buying a season ticket. He's under no obligation to offer "support" on here.
What does that mean exactly? By the way i agree you and everyone else should be able to comment, criticise and praise. In fact thats what the theme of the thread is all about. However I'm now intrigued what support actually means. Is it buying a ticket for the game or more? Conan suggest thats what it means.
For the first and probably last time I fully agree with Mr Troutman, spot on especially Paras 1,3,4 Sent from my Hudl HT7S3 using Tapatalk
I'm not talking about financially supporting the club. As the thread suggests I'm talking about the manager. Giving him time, not jumping on his back after every defeat and generally supporting his decisions. I'm not suggesting anyone's under any obligation to support the club or the manager, just questioning how someone can claim to support the manager when all I see is criticism.
Supporter. noun. A person who approves of and encourages a public figure. I don't hear much approval. You might want LJ to do well, but you don't support him.
Ask yourself why you don't hear much approval. I don't praise Carp but do praise decent displays as I have done in the past. Do you think I spend my money on them to have a good moan? I want success and a bit of entertainment and a manager who succeeds. If Lee Jay is that man then that would be brilliant. He will get his fair crack of the whip. But it ain't unconditional.
If you disagree with his tactics which many do then how can you possibly approve and encourage it? You are basically saying that regardless of what fans think of the performances and tactics they must pretend that they like them and encourage Johnson to continue doing the same.
Dunno if Johnson is a good manager or not. Way too early to tell for me. Am I 100% behind him? For me that would mean I'd accept everything he does and says without question and defend him to the last. I won't and I don't, I question him all the time. Sometimes because I really do think his decisions are up for criticism and sometimes because I'm a right contrary lovely person. I can't do that and then pretend I'm 100% behind him. That's not what the phrase means. If I was, and I had concerns, I'd keep them to myself. However, I'm very much of the mind set that the man in charge is the right man for the job until he proves otherwise. And I believe a football manager should be given a chance. Not a few months, but a few years. Unless we're relegated this season I don't believe Johnson's position should be up for debate. Even if we are I wouldn't automatically sack him. We can all point to the fact that the club have claimed we have one of the highest budgets in the division and so should be up at the top, I've done so myself many times, but that's because I'm very sceptical about that. It doesn't add up with the squad we've got and the signings we've made. It might be true, but personally, I doubt it. I think it was used as justification to sack our last manager and it's now biting those in charge on the arse on a daily basis.
I reckon we have one of the highest revenues but that for reasons I believe you or I will never really be told that does not translate to one of the biggest budgets in any way shape or form
I'm not tryin to sound poetic and learned. I have one brain cell. It's too small to create anything poetic and learned. Your point is well made. My fundamental disagreement with you is that I don't think we're playing tedious football. Nor do I think we're floundering in mid table. We're three points from the play offs with a game in hand. In my opinion the football shows plenty of signs of promise with hungry players and purposeful forward movement. It's all down to results of course but I don't think he'll be gone by Jan. Ridiculous to even speculate that. Time will see us move forward. Not sacking the manager.
