Fair enough. Just comes down to personal preference I suppose.

I’ve been on lots of forums, not just football related, but about a whole variety of topics. This is the only one that has 400 threads on a single subject. There must be a reason for that. If it worked so well, they’d all do it.

20 threads all telling me it’s 1 0 about 5 minutes after the event.. aye ok, that makes absolute sense. If you come on here for goal news, you must live in the 1990’s

Too many people on here who like the sound of their own voice.

Please keep the one thread for matchdays.

I do if I'm doing something else at the time. Just flick the page and see 1 0 as a post title. The matchday thread disnt even make it clear it was a goal it just said mistake. Had to look at twitter to check.

Sunderland had 111 pages to their match day thread yesterday so I can see why they have to have one!

I prefer a single matchday thread. Too many interesting discussions get stifled after the front page gets taken over on match days. I don't need 50 different threads to tell me that we've scored, we've conceded, player x is crap, the ref got it wrong, that pass was awful, we need to slow it down, we need to speed it up, we're missing Moore, we're not missing Moore, etc, etc, etc. Threads for the sake of threads, is what it is. Most of them add nothing to the discussion and seem to be either an outlet for frustration or a cry for attention. Thank God we're not using VAR yet, cos I don't know how many threads we'd get then... 1-0 FFS, oh hang on, VAR check in progress, could be changing his mind, goal overruled, hallelujah.

I use the BBC or an online videprinter for goal news..

There, that's my cry for attention done for the day. Enjoy your Sunday folks. Next up, Carlisle...

Just to balance things up, personally I prefer the multiple threads on match days rather than a single match thread. Because I live in the 1990s and use the BBS for goal info when I'm away, its easier to see when there's been a goal as it's often visible from the thread title. The single thread idea may be ok for some, but I don't like it at all.

It adds nothing and takes a lot away. I can't be bothered to trawl through page after page of posts to find something interesting. You don't have to do that if we're given the freedom to post where we like. You just hover over a post to see if you want to click. Plus you can tell if someone is making a point rather than simply celebrating a goal or bemoaning a poor decision by the number of replies. Now such posts are lost.

You may enjoy being told what to do and how to do it, but I don't. One of the huge positives of this forum over the majority of the Internet was the freedom it gave you to express yourself. Now we're putting rules in place. This site didn't just survive for twenty years, it flourished. But we're going to change it, take away what it made it so popular and pander to those who need to be told what to do, who get offended by off topic subjects and humour, who believe this is a football forum. It will kill it. All that is available elsewhere so why come here? People come here because it's different. Attempting to destroy your individuality when that's what people find appealing doesn't seem like a good strategy to me.

If you want rules and regulations, post on a forum that offers that. Don't try to change the one that has been going strong for 20+ years because it doesn't.

I'm exactly the opposite bro, if I have a shave we never win. Actually now I get paranoid if I even touch a shaver, we never win either!

never heard of flashscores or anything similar mate? Get it to update you with your favourite team (Barnsley obviously) and it will send goal and HT/FT updates. It pinged me an update about 10 seconds after scoring against Fulham, I knew we'd scored though as I was there, lol!

I know there's loads of apps to do it, tried some of them, I just find the BBS is quicker than most of them. And funnier. I like the different ways people react to scoring or conceding.

There's nothing interesting, it's just people venting. The interesting threads tend to come out after match days, when people have calmed down/sobered up and had a good think. Posts made in the heat of the moment are 99.99% dross.

But you're an anarchist, I get it. ;)

Anyway I won't be losing any sleep if we never have another Matchday Thread, I'll just stay out of here until the following day.

quicker, really? don't get that at all. what's quicker than something/someone (i.e. an app telling you 10 seconds after something has happened, you don't have to be continually checking the BBS then, and can get on with whatever you're doing if away on hols or whatever.

I like to open threads about specific subjects that I want to read about. It might be about a specific incident, or a particular player's performance, or the tactics, or a substitution. Plus, it has always been a quick way of score updates. It no longer is, and I don't want to have to trawl through pages of posts looking for the subject I want to know about. Working weekends 200 miles away from Oakwell has meant that I have previously spent hours on here during matches. By half time yesterday I had got bored and frustrated with the single thread and turned off my phone and went to final score. It's a shame because I have always loved this site, but will be spending less time on it if the single thread remains.

It depends on the circumstances. If someone is at a game and posts "Gerrin!" instantly, that's far quicker than anything else. But obviously it relies on people posting. As far as "getting on with whatever I'm doing" goes, I generally don't do anything else during a match - I sit there with an array of windows open on 3 monitors, with live tables, score updates, text commentary etc. That's how I know the BBS is among the fastest. Sad but true :D

I did mean while I'm away, you've not misunderstood at all. I live partly in Germany and on match days I sit there glued to my screen(s).
