    RE: Wind up alert!

Why is it a wind up that i may suggest that Ritchie not be offered a contract until we stay up and he has proved his worth at this level. It makes perfect sense to me what GS are doing and i applaud him for his running of the club, he is doing things for the long term future of the club, not to please a section of fans who seem to worship Ritchie no matter what!

RE: What if Ritchie got the maximum out of the club you could get ,

So, we stay up and dont offer richtea another contract until his current one has almost expired, another club perhaps league one (one of the sides that does get relegated from the championship) thinks....lets sack our manager and get in another proven manager who has taken a club up on a shoestring from this league 1.

Oh they think there is that richtea at Barnsley, he is out of contract, lets offer him a bit more cash than they might, and promise him a bit of cash to spend on players.
Would you then be happy that GS didnt offer him a contract earlier????

I certainly know i wouldnt be.
In My humble opinion Richtea is one of the up and coming managers in the country, yes his tactics may have been brought into question, but i would much rather see us lose 5-1 with 10 men and keep trying to score, than lose 2-1 and defend our goal hoping for something on the break.

He should be kept here for the long term, what have we achieved with the last 3 or 4 managers??? then got rid cos of poor performances??

sorry to butt in again, but....
i cant believe why clubs wanna give managers long term contracts. football is ficle, and you are only ever as good as your last couple of games. things change very quickly and judging by the viewpoints of some there wont be many clubs rushing to take him off your hands - surely the only reason to give someone a long contract.

I think that for many fans the matter about the manager is historical. In the past ten years we have had a revolving door put in the managers office and Ritchie is the first manager we have had who has had the job for a full season for a long time. The demise this club went into i believe can be traced back to the instability of changing managers so often. I remember an interview Joe Royle gave about when he took over at Man City and how he had a squad of players who had been signed by 4 or 5 different managers and how this complicated his job.
I agree that the nature of the business means that football is fickle and for that reason I would like to see Andy given a 12 month rolling contract- this would suit both the manager and the club.
