Quite right they wernt afraid to dish it out then against us , difference being it was a different time then and much as I despised Thatcher she wouldn't put up with any of this even now .
Ian, while I wholeheartedly share your revulsion and feel these people deserve exactly what's coming to them and more, any heavy-handed policing will just give the far-right scum more ammunition online. They'd continue to peddle the line that they're being "oppresed in there own cuntry", and make a martyr of anyone who got injured. I saw some apparent footage of one of them who'd got separated from his group taking an absolute pasting from some locals who'd taken exception to his vile views. While it was difficult to feel any sympathy for him, the knock-on effects could be catastrophic. Part of being a civilised and democratic country is having a police force who don't result to brutality in tricky situations. Find them, arrest them, let the law deal with them. From what I can see, if found guilty some of them will be looking at substantial custodial sentences. Let's hope that the judges don't show any leniency.
Rising up to what? You’re in the minority pal. Most people I know were worried about their mates trapped in the surrounding housing estates, and the refugees and workers in the hotel. My friend is one of the shift managers and had to be barricaded in by police from idiots trying to burn the place down. I’m not by any stretch far left, but just looked on in dismay. This was not an ill thought out protest. It was a mob whipped up by social media, alcohol, drugs and stupidity to smash up a local town. For what?
Not really sure where to start with this one (apart from correcting all the spelling and grammar mistakes). I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you'd had a few light ales when you wrote it. Because if you genuinely believe what you wrote to be true, that's very very sad, not to mention a massive insult to everyone on here who went on strike in 1984, or had friends and family members who did.
For years I've been intrigued by the apparent link between poor spelling/grammar and hooliganism, extremism and racism. Could it be that lack of education has played a part? Or is it just utter thickness?
Both at a guess. Plus total ignorance. To my mind, surely part of protecting "English values" would include using the language correctly?!
I think there’s little to be proud of in Britain today with some evil, hateful people instigating violence in some very stupid people who think the only answer is ever violence. There is a lot of reason for fear if this is allowed to grow into the brutal nazi state that they want to create. I was out in Cambridge on Saturday night and there was a bunch of big lads out for a night out and it goes through your mind that it could be the start of something. It was early evening and I had grandchildren with me. It starts with the creation of ‘the other’, be it Jews, refugees, Asians, gays, or whatever. Dehumanising makes it OK???
They are at a protest organized by the far right fascist scum, supporting and encouraging the far right fascist scum to be violent and damage property If they didn't leave immediately (or try to stop them), we can safely assume that they are also far right fascist scum. This is not difficult. We are going through the footage to see who we recognise and reporting them so they can be investigated.
Oh **** off you ignorant lovely person. Attacking people because of the colour of their skin or their religion is far right - especially when its based on lies spread by malicious actors - both domestic and overseas. Attacking asylum seekers - or indeed or immigrants - is far right. Being a fascist hasn't been a good thing since the 1930s. We beat them then, and we'll beat you now.
How ******* dare you compare the thugs we’ve seen out in Manvers and elsewhere to the men who walked off shift in 84, with their families supporting them, and especially them having their bodies beaten by corrupt policing at Orgreave? There is absolutely no comparison. How can you possibly conclude that people who don’t condone thuggery, violence and targeted pseudo-terrorism are bigoted? The motivation for all of this is bigotry. You bloody well know it. It isn’t about having a ‘different opinion’ whatsoever. The opinion of most of them, and I’m guessing you, is pretty abhorrent and short sighted; fuelled by an ill educated rhetoric - however the vilification is more reserved for the actions people are taking. Had there been a quiet and peaceful protest - I’d have still called out the blatant xenophobia. But would have had much less fuel to castigate. But the problem is it’s never a peaceful protest is it? It’s always pissed up, pilled up, coked up pillocks throwing rocks, petrol bombs, cans of piss. Setting property on fire, damaging anything in sight. Making nazi salutes and physically attacking police officers (who on these occasions are not acting as we saw at Orgreave - or anything like it). But it’s those that call this out that are bigots? Go and crawl back under your rock.
Their fathers and grandfathers also fought in the Second World War to save Britain and Europe from a fascist nation who believed in violence against minorities. Just have a think about that.
I wish I could be proud. Instead I'm physically shaking with rage this morning and heartbroken at what is going on in places I love, perpetrated by people I've always built my politics around safeguarding, against people you can say the same about. And I just feel so helpless. Because how do you get through bloody minded inability to reason?
All people calling the folk a Manvers far right thugs.. you are virtue signaling set of hippocrates.. These are the product of 80s Thatcher policys that decimated our industrys. They have no.. or poor job prospects.. They been introduced to drugs from their early teen years.. and the deprivation and mental health issues that come hand in hand with that. And you call far-right. They wouldn't know what that even means There housing and rents prospects are worse than there health awful and will be queuing up at the foodbanks this week The Dearne valley is as big as a deprived area as a y in this country... But do you care?. No because they're far right c'unts. They way be poorly educated and misguided but far right.. come on. And if you were one of those who took Thatchers golden penny of buying your council house.. a big well done there to you.. you are part of this problem.. a lack of affordable housing.. due to your shortsighted greed. A lot more going on here than far right
I've been called some names in my time, but this is the first time I've ever been labeled an ancient Greek physician.
I agree that despair and deprivation are hugely to blame for a lot of the behaviour we saw yesterday. People with very few prospects in life, lashing out at easy targets - in this case foreigners. A lot of poorly educated, easily led people with very little to lose. They should still know better, and explaining some of the causes in no way excuses it. I also think that trying to understand the root causes is key to stopping something like that from happening again. However, I'm talking about the followers here. A lot of the ringleaders knew exactly what they were doing. And in the case of Farage, Fox, Yaxley-Lennon and others, are very far from living a life of hopelessness and deprivation.
Not one iota of what you just said excuses making death threats, setting fire to a building full of people, attacking police and bystanders. Not one single thing. I don't care what the colour of skin or country of origin is it's disgusting. If these people were protesting about opportunities and living conditions there's better ways to do it. But they weren't and you know they weren't. They were there because anti migrant hatred had been whipped up by far right organisers exploiting the murder of three kids by a British citizen.
