    The pictures unfortunately do not do it justice. The mountains are about 40 minutes by car. Some days when it is really clear you feel like you can almost reach out and touch them whilst other days they literally vanish from sight. The ones you can see are the Sibillini mountains ( in a National park) but they are just a part of the Appennine range which runs the entire length of Italy North to South. They are growing year on year as two tectonic plates East and West are colliding. There is a third plate also moving North. This is the reason Italy is prone to Earthquakes on a regular basis like the ones we had in 2016 in our region and the 2009 ones in Aquila.
