It takes a certain amount of arrogance to believe that your 'truth' is the only 'truth'. Having said that, prejudice absolutely relies upon the belief that your own 'truth' is fact...

Agree with all that, but the thing for me is you don't have to build a team around Hourihane, he can play in any formation the manager comes up with.
Play 3-5-2 and he's the attacking midfielder of the central 3. Same with 4-5-1. Play a midfield diamond and he's the attacking point. Play 4-4-2 and he'd be fine alongside Pearson or Scowen. You might choose both Pearson and Scowen over Hourihane in a 4-4-2 because they're good players too, but Hourihane is more than capable of playing the position.

Other than his set pieces, he doesn't stand out enough to build the team around him. However, he's not so deficient in any particular area that we can't play whatever formation Johnson fancies with Hourihane being able to slot right in. He may not be the best tackler in the world, but in a 4-4-2 you play one of your central pair who is better at the defensive side of the game and one who is better at the attacking side.

Hourihane is a good player, but he requires neither special treatment nor protection. I realise you've not said he needs that, but Johnson has and I reckon until he just lets the buggers play without trying to compensate for what he thinks are their deficiencies, we'll get nowhere.

Totally agree with all that Jay. He is a good player, as are plenty of others in the squad.

I'm fully behind LJ but it is at odds with that I think we have a squad of players who are more than good enough for this division, so my conclusion is that it must be what the manager is doing with them.

He is working on the defensive side of his game just like he did at the back end of Wilson`s reign, but once Danny had gone he reverted back to previously.

On Setdi he gave possession away and immediately got up and chased back to put a challenge in, Something you would more associate with Pearson or Scowan, it turned out he gave a free kick away but the intent was there and it was nice to see and has been for the last few home games.

Carry on Conor, yep it weren`t his best game but that was more down to his delivery int second haif than owt.
