Didn't the club openly admit prior to the Birmingham game that they'd not turned the heating on early enough as they wanted to ensure the worst of the weather was out of the way before they did in order not to ruin the turf. As it happened the pitch wasn't playable. In reply to the OP. I fully agree with Whitey. It happens, at least the club gave 8 hours notice. I wouldn't have gone as far as calling the general consensus knob heads but there's no need for some of the negativity.
Can't remember that. According to my notes from the meeting with Don the heating had been on for 3 days before.
Dangerous walking down the hill after the game - snow gave the liverpool fans some ammo to get us with on Queens drive back to the motorway
Earlier this year I traveled about 11,000 mile round trip and had tickets for the Doncaster game. It was postponed due to international call ups. I was disappointed, but s**t happens.
I bet Ben didn't lie to you and mek schizzle up like we'd triallists from the Um Bongo, and a few first teamers representing North Utopia, Republic of Conga and another fictional place like Scotland?!?
Anyone think about the Oldham fans and their trip across the saddleworth moors or woodhead skating rinks ?
I fully understand that the game needed calling off under the circumstances. However my points last 24 hours have been that I don't think the club showed enough to get the game on since Boxing Day. If, as many said that nothing was done to remove snow through till Monday then maybe we could have been informed of progress or not. Seems like my opinion classifies me in the knobhead category. One which quite clearly is an acceptable category to use against individuals or generally ( there is no difference).
I’m not sure what “being kept informed of progress” would achieve. Hey – we’ve shifted a quarter of the snow A few hours later – half of it’s gone now. Before at midday yesterday the game gets called off. We moan when games are called off close to kick off, a decision is made at a decent time that will prevent most folk setting off for the game and folk still moan. What difference would it make to know of exactly what was going on, you’d still be saying “but is the game on or not” because that is the only thing people really want to know.
I would have thought it would have set expectations and shown some good PR from the club. We showed great communications and PR from the point of cancellation but nothing before. People were left to assume and creat conspiracy theory's. The myths of not doing enough would have been dispelled. All in my opinion positive and good fan interaction. It was the right thing to call the game off midday, but don't be presumptuous in thinking all people want is to know it's on or off. today's world isn't as digital at that, the response proves it.
I'd rather be in the kn0bhead category than the self indulgent, spoilt baby throwing toys out of cot category any day...
Were you creating threads yesterday which contained stuff like "we're a joke, the club is ******* embarrassing, we're having the piss taken out of us" etc? Did you start threatening not to attend games in future? Were you, in the threads, suggesting Ben Mansford was full of '********' and the club called it off to save money? Did you claim in the threads that the undersoil heating was never switched on? Did you come out with a random figure of expense for using said heating, a figure I and others know to be so far from the truth it's laughable? If you didn't, I don't see what your issue is. I suggested folk who were coming out with comments like the above were 'acting' like first class knobheads. I don't see why - if you haven't posted anything of that nature - why you'd think you were a knobhead. From what I've read, the likes of yourself, Woodbine and Pasta haven't posted things of that manner, yet all three of you have taken offence, and two of you have since attacked me with insults... Call me all the names you want, slur my nature, do as you please. I'm the least likely on here to be arsed or offended. Seriously. At the end of the day, pal, I was bang on with what I said and nobody ought to have been offended. If I posted like a bed wetter, threw my toys out and claimed the world was no longer turning because a game of football had been postponed following horrendous conditions I too would be acting like a knobhead.
I havent insulted you. I think theres a lot of crossed wires here. Some i believe may have been over sensitive and have taken the extreme conspiracy theory stance. However some, like myself, simply believe that the club could have done more to get the game on (even if they failed to achieve that) and also could have communicated on the subject better. I think your comment that generalised and called people knobheads, wet wipes etc etc was no better than the ones calling the club embarrassing. I am not sensitive enough to take umbrage (word of the month) and I've been around the block enough times to see things like this as just BBS Banter and chat.
I did say 'two' of the three of you. I know that you didn't go down that route. But again, you seem to be missing the point I've made about thirty times now. I wasn't calling anyone a knobhead. I said 'some' were acting like first class knobheads with their reactions to a game of football being postponed following horrendous weather the last week. I thought it was obvious which posts I was responding to, indirectly. I certainly wasn't suggesting those with opinions such as yours were acting like knobheads. You didn't say the club were taking the piss out of the lifeblood of the club. You didn't suggest the club hadn't turned on the heating and that they were happy to save money by not turning it on. And so on and so forth. I think I'll just draw a line and move on. Thanks for your time, pal.
