I imagine a lot of people will have this response and it shows how important doing the right things by fans is. If they had not said anything lots of fans wouldn't have paid on principle but by sticking up for the fans I imagine a lot of people will pay and not claim back. Watch now, the game won't even be on after all this
I think our club does a fantastic job to be fair. Don't want to get into an argument about something that looks like is an EFL **** up, so well done BFC - again
Every affected member was emailed before Xmas, the same day we were informed of the decision by the EFL.
can you conect your laptop to the TV via an HDMI lead - its a lot better when done that way - though it still doesnt fix the buffering
Oh, it's definitely an EFL **** up and I have nothing put praise for the club for doing the right thing and reimbursing fans, that doesn't mean the communication wasn't a bit lax though.
It wasn’t lax. We were in dialogue with the EFL and had communicated to our affected members as soon as we were aware of the change. We’ve also sent thousands of emails in the last few minutes to our affected members confirming the potential refund should they purchase a pass tonight.
Lax Communication though JD, really? It's only a couple of days ago we (I anyway) found out we'd have to pay for tonight's game. The club know what's happened and just released a statement before the game. Over the Festive Christmas period when today "is the first day back at work" that's not bad going imho. I doubt most wont have had much time off the last few days anyway, which is something a lot of fans should be thankful for.
Well, considering there's been a few threads on here about it with paying customers unsure and unhappy with what was happening, posts on Twitter wondering why they didn't have a code and no doubt conversations not on social media wondering what was happening, then yes, I would say it was. A club employee spending time responding to comments on a thread on one of the fan's message boards rather than just putting out a statement with the most up to date information they had seems a bit daft and akin to Conway having chats to dripfeed information with groups of fans at away games rather than putting out a message publically. In hindsight now, everything has come up great but yesterday people were feeling put out and forgotten about. Yes, maybe they should have waited and seen but also maybe something only happened because of those posts; you can't just wait and see and then nothing happen.
To be fair I see where the EFL are coming from, the Christmas fixtures are different. I imagine the same principle will apply at Easter.
A non reserved+ member complaining of the lax communication - when all affected supporters, who do have the reserved+ membership, were emailed directly by the club the day they found out from the EFL about the situation... What else were they meant to do? They have also decided, completely without having any obligation to do so, to offer refund to any reserved+ member who buys a match pass. When the game has realistically likely only just been confirmed as being on given the situation at Rotherham and the overnight weather. Well done Barnsley FC, well done Mr White, I’m sure you’ve been involved in it. And well done to anyone who as a ‘+’ member buys the game and doesn’t ask for a refund. Even if you don’t feel you need to, you are well within your rights to do so; I have no idea how the club are going to do this but whatever the method, it’s great stuff.
Would agree with you if they made it clearer earlier in the year rather than 7 days before the game going into one of the most expensive times of the year, but yes let’s be warned in advance re this next time and I mean from the EFL not BFC. Also just to pick up. The club never told it was looking into any further options for supporters so I can understand why it was continually questioned. All we got told was “Unfortunately, this is matter is out of the Club’s control.” So whilst happy they have found a solution it was to an agreement we fans had paid to receive no matter how the EFL was trying to dress it up anyway looking forward to last weekends encounter tonight. If the snow doesn’t get it called off
Despite my previous complaining, I'll probably not be requesting a refund. For me it was about principal, I wouldn't buy the game knowing it was supposed to be included It's not about the money though, so just the offer of the refund is enough for me. I might ask for the refund, but probably not.
I'll be requesting a refund. Call me a cnt if you like, but it's what I signed up for. Our owners are billionaires, they won't miss my tenner.
