IF someone had chose to sign him then instead of waiting till the summer and IF Hill had been given all the money to spend on players. And IF he chose to spend that money on exactly three players. Personally I think he was just talking out of his arse.
I remember John McSeveney 32 goals in 46 games (I think) in the 1971/72 season and people were daft enough to accuse Mark Robins of being the most defensive manager we've had! Needless to say, we were relegated at the end of that season to the old Fourth Division. Happy days(!)
would love to read patrick's memoirs if he ever gets round to writing them. especially a no holds barred version. be very interesting getting an insight into the shakiest time our club has experienced. but as you say will probably never know don't think he would do anything to bring the club into disrepute.
thats probably true,,,but lets just say we got 1 million for him to enable us to buy 3 decent players capable of holding the team together and to continue pushing higher up the league. well, surely between the board they could come up with 1 million to allow keith hill to buy 3 decent players,,for me from a business point of view this would be money well spent,,,in that if we were pushing for play-offs the attendences would rise, and some return for their investment would be inevitable,,,,,if,,and it is an if,we get relegated i reckon they'd be wishing they'd invested 1 million, cause without doubt the attendences would fall dramatically,..and therefore so would the money comming into the club,,,,,,do we really have to sell our best players to raise 1 million??
