Is it the fault of the coaches that the young players are not deemed good enough for the first team because the talent is out there
so it isnt the fault of foreign players and dont give me any of this 'foreigners are cheaper' rubbish either because mostto cost 400k, how much did coulson cost? bad management and coaching at all levels are keeping english players out of their teams, not foreigners.
I thought this was about the whole system , not just Barnsley unless Sepp Blatter only wants Barnsley to change. Where did I say that it was Barnsley`s coaches , I think I have said Arsenal etc, not Barnsley. Anyway our head coach is Welsh, not English.
Agreed I don't think bought in foreigners are limiting the ability of English youngsters to develop. And if they reach the standard, they'll get the games. True, some academies are taking on young foreigners and in this case, there's one less place for an English apprentice but that's the competitive way of the world. I suppose on the flipside, English apprentices can always learn their trade abroad. I reckon the English national side hasn't got worse. It's just that other, previously uncompetitive, countries have improved in relation. I reckon Blatter's proposal may get past EU rules because he's not saying clubs cannot employ many foreigners, it's just that they cannot play all of them. Whether it can be demonstrated that this will in turn limit the free market, which it no doubt will, is another thing.
