LOL...... its all doom and gloom aint it. Poor Colace is being slated already.......

I forget who it was but some of you earlier on this thread were discussing south americans struggling to settle over here i.e. Mostto. Juan Pablo Angel struggled to settle at Villa but came good, and I don't see Tevez and Mascherano struggling. So FFS can we just back off Colace and give the lad a chance! Please!!!! the kid aint even played a competative game yet.....

And from the friendly match reports I've read he's done ok, El Haimour has stood out and if any of the signings has appeared to be struggled its been Hume. But I ain't knocking Hume as I thinks he's quality and have been a fan since his Tranmere days...

Back on to Mostto. Last summer he came with big reputation and we had big expectations of him. Apart from settling to english life he also had to adapt to english football. To make his footballing life even more difficult SD regularly paired him with KO (Fook me even Ronaldinho would struggled playing along side the big lad!!). Early last season when KO was in the side our passing game dissapeared and we resorted to more direct approach...... this kind of play was unknown to Mossto and effectively ruled him out of the game. The one game we played ball on the floor (Mostto's way) he scored got MOTM and look a decent player. Very shortly after we Ferenczi returned from injury, we signed Macken and Mostto was shipped out on loan.
I reckon KO should have been the one to go out on loan. Both KO and Mostto we making steady improvements (to steady by anyones standards) but Mostto was the one who looked more of a threat, or at least in my opinion. Since Mostto went out on loan we have signed Leon, Anderson and Colace not all south americans but spanish speakers. I really think given another chance Mostto would link up well with the likes of leon and Anderson, that is provided he got the chance to play alongside someone other than big KO.

And KO aint completely useless, but he needs major improvements! very major!!!

If you aren't careful you'll be getting barred off this board. Far too much common sense included in that post.

Well spotted David.. but please note Anderson has spanish passport and played in spain on loan.....

at both Malaga and Racing Santander (in spain), he also spent time on loan in Uruguay (spanish speaking country) at Nacional and Montevideo...... therefore I think it it fairly safe to assume that he speaks some spanish!

Although my main point was with regards to their playing style, and upbringing. Not purely language based.

Finally I would also like to point out that (acording to Wikipedia) there are an estimated 15 million Brazilians of Spanish descent ...........They are totally integrated into Brazilian society and nowadays most of them only speak Portuguese. Nonetheless, Spanish is the second most important foreign language taught in Brazilian schools, after English. Spanish and Portuguese are the main languages of Ibero-America. A mixed language based on Portuguese and Spanish called Portuñol, is used on the Brazilian borders with Spanish-speaking countries. Most Spanish Brazilians are Roman Catholic, with some communities adhering to Protestantism and Judaism.[3]

does that answer your question Dave?

To be honest i really felt for Mostto last year. it was obious from day one that he's not the biggest or the quickest and therefore we need to play it into his feet around the edge of the box, remember Palace when he turned and was brought down. Last year we too often had one game plan and I agree that with Anderson and Leon playing that sort of ball he could be a different player this year. We have to play to our strikers strengths - on the floor to Mostto and down the channels to use KO's power and pace - can't recall any centre half who could live with that pace.

You've hit the nail on the head

I don't know whether a new striker will be signed in time for the QPR game (although I hope one will be), but I do believe one will arrive by the time the transfer window closes at midnight on 31st August.
