Yes, but this is the guy who stated he didn't own a computer because he didn't want to be accused of downloading child porn..... and the same guy who admitted that he'd always said he disliked children, to put people off the scent. And, the guy who defended Paul Gadd.

What do you mean by "no evidence exists"?

Also the guy who claimed never to have visited the children's home on Jersey - until he admitted it after being shown a photo of him with the children

(this is the home where they recently found dead bodies in the grounds - not that this is directly linked to him!). Out of interest it has long been rumoured that rich fanianciers and politicians used to sail to jersey, pick children up from the home there and 'take them sailing'. One of those alleged to have been involved was the now dead Edward Heath - all with Savile as the go-between.

DNA, CCTV, Fingerprints, Photos, Videos, computer logs, etc or failing that a thorough iunvestigation by the police and a decision to prosecute by the CPS rather than a tv documentary. The usual incriminating eveidence that most court cases are built around in these modern times. Currently we have the word of several woman against one dead person, who cannot defend himself. I am not saying he is guilty and neither am I saying he is not guilty, but it would be a struggle to bring a conviction after all this time if he was still alive.

If he was guilty then he deserves everything that can happen to him, but only if it can be proved that he was guilty of a crime (at the time of offence).

The problem was the Savile was such a powerful, important and well regarded person that people looked the other way or refused to believe it could happen.

Victims testimonials still count as evidence don't they, surely?

I saw a clip of her on the news, and that is one evil witch.

I really don't see why so many different people would lie, and in great detail too.

I'm yet to see anyone come up with an answer to that.

Yes, you are correct. Testimonials are evidence, but after all this time that is all that we have. Testimonials that were recorded in front of a TV camera that may (or may not) have used leading questions instead of under the normal process of police evidence gathering.

It does look bad, and the saying goes "No smoke without fire", but this has come from a TV show that was recorded/commissioned immediately after the death of a person that cannot respond to the allegations. Why now and not last year, ten years ago or even at the time?

Many people lie in all forms of life and for all kind of reason. How long ago was it that we heard about how the local police force made up a bunch of lies for newspapers to print about Hillsborough.

I don't know if these people did or didn't lie. But how were the statements taken - was there any form of coaching or leading on the questions? Was any payment offered for appearance on the show?

If he did what he is accused of then he should have faced prosection and punishment in a court of law while he was alive, *not* trial by TV without any hope of reply.

I wish it had come to light when he was alive. Then either:

    a) An innocent man would have been afforded the chance to defend himself.

    or

    b) A guilty man would have been tried for his crimes.

What we've got now isn't ideal by any stretch of the imagination. I don't know what is the best way forward. But I do know it's not right to silence those who feel they have been wronged.

    Multiple women though?

And their own unique stories were hardly unique. They described his actions, and each one matched the next.

I can't see what their agenda is if in fact they are just liars.

Can anybody remember a case similar to this?

I mean, where a person has died and so couldn't defend themselves against subsequent allegations?

    Just interested.

Multiple women with an identical story would suggest to me that they coached, but that might just be my cynical side coming out...

As for motive, it could be anything from fame, revenge (for him doing it) to revenge (for him using/dumping them). I don't know whether he is guilty or not, but it all seems like a pointless witch hunt after his death.

Yes, but was he really a lovely person? Where is the evidence? I don't think it's fair to lambast the man while he's unable to defend himself. And that swastika design thing, I quite like it. It's better than a triangle anyway.

Could they make a claim against his estate, or the police for not following up their allegations?
