Judging by their reputations at their loan clubs...

Heslop - Halifax's Player of the Year

Atkinson - I voted for him in the Electronic Fishcake's Player of the Year to see how many votes he had. That was only his second vote. Others had 20's and 40's so isn't standing out at Grimsby.

Meynell - Difficult to judge at Gretna but will be released anyway from Barnsley apparently.

Potter - Only spent 2 months at Stafford Rangers until Boxing Day and been nowhere else since. That doesn't look good.

Players break through later these days

You can't expect a 17 year old to come in to the team as first choice in the Championship now. The influx of foreign players has raised the standards. Plus how many 17 year olds at any standard are first choice players.

The fact that he is getting experience now is brilliant. If he was 21 I'd agree but he is still a kid and a very promising one at that

Mark Devonshire is one that confuses me

2 months ago he was in the short list of 6 for Wickes apprentice of the year, losing out to Beevers at the fowls. So he must be fairly decent, but we let him go last week

Jamil Adam has just been called into the Nigeria u20 squad so maybe he will make the breakthrough next year
