Do you think...

    ... we didn't look fit ?

Also... and be honest... if you thought that SD would have been AR's replacement would you have still advocated a change ?

Not meaning to be confrontational, just interested in an open discussion !!! God I ought to be on question time !!!!!:D

Finally what do you think of the signings ?

Going back to the head tennis.

If you had read that post you will find that I was reporting what I had seen in training which was an absence of coaching from AR and RH.

That particuler session was the first time I had seen the team do anything other than 8 v 8 with Ritchie playing from start to finish.

Thanks also for pointing out how progressive the Portuguese training methods are.

My old PE teacher at Wombwell High back in the 60s would have been pleased to know how advanced his methods, ie Head Tennis, were then.

This thread is turning into yet another Richie versus Davey rant

If you read the beginning of the thread, it asks who would want Davey to go and asks for opinions, it does not ask for an argument about who is best, just asks for your own opinions.
Does this site not allow free thinking now, are we all supposed to toe the party line and not be able to think for ourselves?

hold on .... I'm only relaying to you what was reported on the BBC where they compared English training methods with the portugeuse.

I did ask whether you have watched SD training sessions... if you have I would like your opinion ..(genuinely) if you haven't fine .. no problem.

Does everything have to be so confrontational on this board ???

Maybe your PE teacher had a point, personally I've no idea.

Finally what did you think of the performances under AR..up to the Wednesday game, where did he get it wrong ON THE PITCH. If you would like to give an opinion fine if not again fine... but if you come back with PPG that would be poor when I'm trying to get a genuine opinion. No wind up.

    RE: Do you think...

Well, I knew just about as much about Davey as I do extra terrestial life.

I have to hold my hand up and say he would not have been my choice but I think he is doing very well under very tough conditions. I was talking to a guy in the Gatehouse the other week who still thinks Ritchie would have taken us down and brought us back up again with the same players and the same tactics.

So some people will never be convinced mainly because they were big fans of AR.

    Prior to the Wednesday game

We obviously lacked fitness in the early part of the season..OK for 60 mins or so then kaput and nobody of any merit on the bench. No matter what you think of the signings the sqaud is more able to handle injuries / suspensions than it was.

I advocated the sacking of AR because I could see a change was required. At the time I would have taken on anyone as I thought we were only heading one way under AR. Up to the wednesday match our results were clearly better under SD. I said if we got a result then no-one could blame GS for appointing him. When it was anounced that he had the job I was gutted initially but came around to giving him a bit more time as to be fair we had lost RW (Along with a few other suspensions) whom in my opinion would have made a major difference to our league position given time. Along with a few other suspensions

He changed our style around and adopted a more defensive approach which has netted more clean sheets and a better points haul than AR. That said we definately lost our attacking, entertaining approach though to be honest that had largely disappeared following the pigsty outing. I do not accept the contract negotiation farce as an excuse for that.

Dont get me wrong some of the turn outs under Davey have been shocking (I also felt the same under AR esp. last season) but pretty football every game will not keep us in this league as we obviously cannot play that game against the better teams.

McCann is proving to be a good signing though sometimes loses the plot. He's young though, has taken a huge step up and will improve.

Think Mattis is out of his depth but shows some promise. Can only conclude his inclusion in the first team was either a mangerial authority issue or just a big mistake.

As for the latest additions obviously Ferenzci is superb, his work rate phenominal, and his scoring record thus far out of this world. Rajczi is also a hard worker and is helping stan get his goals - both contribute an enormous amount to our dfensive strategy - worth signing IMHO. Both put Hayes, Richards & Nads to shame.

Nyatanga is also a very good acquisition given his composure belies his age though a little naive at times. Tonights goal was a god send.

Yes I was down a week on Monday.

I only stayed for about an three quarters of an hour.

Three coaches were working on shooting. Nothing out of the ordinary, just two goals about 18 yards apart and players working in pairs to score with the ball being crossed from out wide.

Looks like it paid off tonight.
