Loads around us blaming Davies tonight, but looked to me like a simple header from Lindsay would have sufficient.

I've no axe to grind with either, but Lindsay wasn't at his best tonight and probably should have been sent off for his challenge on the touch line. Davies on the other hand made some cracking saves as already mentioned.

Brown was man of match quite easily.

I agree that he could be more consistent, I think that's true of most of our players, but this season I think he's been good more often than not.

Davies made probably one good save, the others were pretty basic which every keeper should make. Not buying into it that the one that came off the bar was a good save, should never have been 30 yards off his line. Horrendous goalkeeping for the second goal, he totally bottled it. Still need another keeper to challenge him.

How is he ‘too slow’ when he’s deliberately slowed down to hold off the Oxford player & allow Davies the space to clear the danger.

You could argue that he should’ve dealt with the danger himself but one things for certain is he’s not too slow as he’s deliberately slowed to allow Davies the space to clear

I’ve heard it all on here. It’s a mix up. Happens regularly in football, **** when it happens to your team but that’s it. Most happen in different parts of the pitch & you can’t even remember them because they don’t influence the match. If you’re watching that & questioning someone’s bottle you don’t know what you’re watching.

On another day Lindsay & Davies both try to clear it or one clears while the other backs off. In this case both think the others dealing with it.

Lindsay’s been outstanding since the Burnley game & claims that Pinnock’s bailed him out recently are laughable when it was Pinnock that made the error Saturday. They’re both class centre backs for this level & only going to get better & have done superb for us this season especially with how open we were October - December when they had no protection & often were left in 2 on 2 situations or even outnumbered.

I’d also say that in the modern game where goalies are protected that probably the majority of the time that incident is given as a foul

I do agree our centre backs are very good at this level...lyndsey does seem to suffer from lack of concetration a bit more but on the whole, im pleased with them.
Last night we lacked zip and tactically messed up, until the subs came on.
Again another team enforced their physicality on us, which we eventually matched ....football wise they couldnt string 3 passes together, so did to us what they could to make up for that.
Another game where the ref was old manned by senior players and tactics, how we received more bookings than oxford beggers belief.
Pinnock really is the real deal and a regular 7 out of 10 (minimum) performer. i think we would really miss him should he get injured or sold.

I was at the match and for me Jacob Brown was Man of the Match.

Oxford's second goal was at the opposite end to the one at the side of which the Barnsley fans were. Even so, when the ball was played through I expected Lindsay to put a bit more pace on the ball by heading it but I thought it was a horrendous mistake from Davies (as did my two companions). When I got home at c 1.40 a.m. I watched the 17 second video that was posted to see if I was being unfair to Davies and, no, I don't think I was. It would have helped him if Lindsay had headed it but the ball still came into the penalty area in time, and at an easy height, to catch. I've watched it three times this morning and it just reinforces my initial view: Lindsay wasn't slow, he slowed down expecting Davies to come for the ball but Davies was hesitant. If he'd come out as fast for the second goal as he did for the horrific open goal incident in the first half he'd have got there in time to catch it and make a cup of tea before Mackie got there. And, no, I never for one second thought he was fouled (though one chap behind me did).

Yea agree ....davies should have claimed that, no problem. I was trying to think what our old german keeper Muller would have done. He would have took the player and the ball and left Mackie in a snotty heap on the floor!

I was and I would say Brown easily Man of the Match

For what its worth I thought Davies was at fault for the first goal a looping header into the 6 yard box and I would have expected him to go and claim it
he was very lucky when he raced out of his box for a ball he was never going to get close to and lobbed saved by the bar - true he made a good save on the follow up but had he not been miles out of position it wouldnt have been needed. He made a couple of decent saves after that but nothing I wouldnt have expected him to save. Their second goal I dont know who was most at fault - Davis or Lindsay - I am leaning more to Lindsay but some clear shouts from Davis would have been good

I think most who either went to Oxford or watched on ifollow (like myself) will agree Brown was man of the match. Think both Davies and Lindsay were at fault for the second goal, but think as Davies could see the whole picture it was his responsibility to take care of the situation. I'm looking forward to watching the extended highlights to see some of these saves again. As like you, I think they all initially looked like saves he should be making.

I like liam Lindsay but that was his fault for the goal he had about 10 seconds to decide what to do with it. He didn't make his mind up and didn't protect Davies well either. If in doubt kick it out.

Our group of 10 went 6 for Davies and 4 for Brown but we all know your particular agenda. Without Davies we lose the match in the first half if that wasn’t the case then I’d have gone for Brown but it was.

No agenda. Think Davies has been good this season and mentioned that in numerous posts. Thought he was crap yesterday though.
