I suppose it was inevitable that one of my late night ramblings would hit the spot for some people at some point...

I do stand by it though, every word. I really can’t see what folk are trying to achieve by attacking Starmer, the very best they can do is haunt him out, get another leader, and if said person is seen as even slightly further left, they’ll be cast aside as an unrealistic, radical dreamer who can’t add up and who is as strong as wet toilet paper.

I was a big fan of a lot of Corbyn’s policies, but it was blatantly obvious even years out that the media and establishment weren’t going to allow him anywhere near Downing Street. We now have a leader who can play the game a bit, appeal to the electorate. Try and claim the centre ground, win an election.

You can’t implement any policy, socialist or otherwise, when you’re in opposition.

Sage is made up of scientists who are essentially risk averse robots. If one person dies it's too many for their robot brains. They will continue to 'advise' for tougher and tougher restrictions. In fact I would not be surprised to find that at least one sage member has at some point suggested a 2 year total house arrest because that's how their brains work.

Sadly because they were selected as such by the government they are seen as godlike and their opinion is seen as the only one.

I’m not a fan of it and wouldn’t miss it. It’s fine in some situations, but I think it’s become far less common over recent years anyway. Much like the shift to home working, this has just expedited it.
