Character, Get what you see approach, No Nonsense , No ******** and one of our own.

And above all confidence that if you stick with him you will have more ups than downs.

I have no confidence that we will progress under Johnson whatsoever and if a change of ownership at the club is forthcoming he will not last long.

ah right. i find that a bit confusing then. up until now i thought you'd said you had no problems with him as an individual and it was his results on the pitch that you had the issue with. i'd understand that more. you now seem to be saying it's about the person, not the results. from what i've seen, i think he's a really open and honest guy, who genuinely seems passionate about wanting to succeed.

^ This. This is today's football in a nutshell.

Andy Ritchie had a point ten years ago, when he was talking about Barnsley realising who they are and the idea of us getting into the Premier Laegue again being nigh on impossible. It's progressed even further again now, to the point where there's a gulf developing between the top half and the bottom half of the Championship.

So, when we don't win the league each year, the manager needs sacking. Or even, when we lose more than three games consecutively, the manager needs sacking. This is why more than half the clubs in the league have a manager who's been in charge for less than a year.

So, we sack a manager once a year. Then he has to acclimatise to the previous manager's squad, doesn't like them, moves half on and tries to replace them. But we're a bit ****, and not a particularly attractive club, so this is difficult, so we're left with loans. Again.

So, the squad's not brilliant. So we don't perform amazingly, and this is the fault of the manager, because he's ****, so he needs sacking as soon as we don't win for more than 3 games consecutively, and the pressure, booing and fear of loss of season ticket sales start to build.

So the whole cycle starts again.

In '92 McCarthy was given a chance to develop into a manager. Today he wouldn't get 18 months. How many league managers (Wenger aside) have been in position for more than 4 years?

Arsene Wenger - Arsenal (19 years)
Paul Tisdale - Exeter City (9 years)
Karl Robinson - MK Dons (5 years)
Jim Bentley - Morecambe, Phil Parkinson - Bradford City, Steve Davis - Crewe Alexandra (4 years)

Steve Bruce will join the club in June, and another 5 by the end of 2016 (Including Mick McCarthy).

Surprisingly Keith Hill will be the first one next year to hit four years in the job.

Already, Lee Johnson is the 48th longest serving manager in Professional English Football
