I know what you mean but - and maybe I am biased - we seem to get far more really bad decisions against us than for us I also think that VAR is just used in completely the wrong way - it should be used to overturn clear errors like our penalty yesterday and they should be quick to spot. the problem is they way it is used in the prem is to micro analise every decision and for things like offsides try and tell to 1mm whether someones toenail is in an offside position. It would be far better to go with onfield decisions and only overturn when there is a clear error. I shoudl not be used to re-ref every decision. Not sure how it gets fixed but every other sport seems to have found a much better way of doing it - the one bit that really works well is goal line stuff
Didn't watch last night and I've only just seen the highlights. Has to rank as one of the worst refereeing decisions I've ever seen. Disgraceful.
Managers should be allowed 2 appeals per match. If the appeal is upheld they keep the appeals, just like in cricket. Appeal could be lodged with the fourth official & when play stops then could be looked at. I'm sure a system like that would be much better that the farcical situation in the Premier League. I've stopped watching MOTD now, as it is really tedious with the over analysing of every minute detail.
I don't know if it's different these days but the clubs used to submit referee reports. They had to be careful because the FA took a dim view of clubs criticising the ref. Complete waste of time.
This is the thing that pi$$es me off. The term 'Respect' appears to mean 'complete protection from any challenge or criticism'. The PL and bigger Champ clubs managers do it because they don't care about the fines.
It's on the Sky Sports website. The ref didn't give it because it looks like the player's arms are by his side, but he had plenty of time to avoid a handball, and in the end, just bounced the ball to his feet like a basketball. It's a penalty whatever interpretation of handball rule you want to follow.
You didn't go to the Oldham away game when Gunner Halle blatantly dived in the box when there wasn't a Barnsley player with 3 yards. Result - penalty. That one is without doubt the worst refereeing decision I have ever had the misfortune to witness
We were at the other end of the pitch and it was a blatant dive from there the referee was 10 yards away and gave the pen......... Can remember the next day and watching the replays on tv the pundits at the time just smiled and said we were hard done by
I know lol we at the other side of the ground could see it was a dive, but the ref gave a pen. He must have had something in his eye
Can remember Lineker saying he'd been brought down by the invisible man. Seem to recall ref was George Cain?
I seem to remember that there was a foul (Archdeacon I think) but about ten yards outside the box and the ref played the advantage.
