They should just scrap the season if they have done it with the non leagues. Don’t see why it should be any different. There are teams in Lower leagues topping the table 10 points and even 27 points. There may be more at stake for the top leagues But it’s all relative. Those lower teams have maybe put all their resources into this season and spent all they possibly can to get success and had it cancelled. Why should top leagues be treated different
There isn’t a perfect answer so it’s pointless searching for one. the closest I can get is title to Liverpool subject to a vote then no relegations top 2 promoted from each league with a play off for the final spot between teams placed 3 to 6 following season 4 relegation spots Same again season after cascade down the leagues
I have a feeling that the longer this goes on, the less likely it is to see the current season completed. All it takes is one of the major leagues in Europe to void and the rest will follow as Uefa will also want all European domestic seasons to start around the same time so Euro 2021 can start. In terms of Premier league and relegation spots the following season (that’s with no team being relegated from this season meaning 22x teams in prem) I could see a similar situation from back in the 94/95 season where 4x teams get relegated from prem and only 2x places being available for promotion from the championship with 1x being automatic, and the teams finishin 2nd to 5th making up the playoffs. Similar for divisions below.
This...... at least the teams like Leeds, WBA have or can raise finances needed, non league teams would struggle.
Italy locked down 2 weeks before we did and are still losing 700-800 per day. No certainty yet they have even peaked. Push that along 2 weeks for us and we are in mid April before we might be approaching peak. On that basis, it is unlikely we will even be out of lockdown before the mid to end of May, never mind being allowed to socially interact again. There is no way anyone is playing any football this side of August. So if they decide to finish this season first, the new season wouldn't start until November even if the close season was only long enough for the FL to knock a new fixture list out. That would mean 2 games a week, every week to get next season finished in time for the Euros, and god knows what happens when games get postponed due to the weather. There is also no guarantee that there won't be a second lock down. All in all, I can't see any prospect of this season being finished. It will be expunged. To be honest, I really don't give a **** either way.
I would say that the Champions League (and Europa League) are more important to UEFA than the Euros - at least financially. At the moment, these won't finish this season and the entrants for next season will be the champions of Iceland and Belarus - and Iceland will pull out as they don't want to risk bringing it back with them.
