Never go back. I loved the Big Val season, but anyone who thinks that would happen again is standing on a piece of ground, expecting lightening to strike twice, or using the same lottery numbers that have won them nothing since the 90's. Give Collins time. If we are way off the playoffs in December, then review. Let's not go all Wednesday, please...
Sorry mate, I was tired and emotional! Wasn't a dig in any way, just a lot of very real things going on in life at the moment, things that require an awful lot of patience, and I feel frustrated that there's so little on here, but I should choose my targets better. I don't know if Collins will be a success or not, but I do know, from a lot of previous experience, it's way, way too early to judge. And a victory or a defeat tonight won't give us a clue either way. (Although if we win I'm not above doing a bit of gloating, because, well, that's what we're all supposed to want, but it genuinely doesn't feel like that reading this forum sometimes (not you).
Just for clarity, my response was totally in isolation of whether I'd welcome him back. I'm fully supportive of our current head coach, way too early for any talk of change, and he's doing ok anyway.
Hey that's a shock if he has got an extension, especially as it's at a club like Watford. The West Brom fans who I chatted with at the time thought he was the dogs bollx to begin with, as he didn't mess about and demanded respect from his players. And although I've no idea what sort of footy they played, I can't understand why any manager should be sacked when they are 5th in the table!.
Haha, happy for you to gloat away it’s looking that way so far, an excellent first half display save for a couple of nervy moments. hope all is ok mate.
One trick pony and everyone knows what to expect with his sides nowadays. Back then and at that level it worked because it was new, intense, and in your face. And noone really took us seriously. I reckon we'd get our heads kicked in trying to play that way in this league unless we sign half a dozen rugby players.
Yeah I'd say the same, don't go back again etc, it wouldn't be the same again if he came back here. The biggest question I would like to ask... Is if Val had stayed with us after the brilliant Play off season, would he/we have had the same effect. Or had he and our team really been 'found out' ?.
I’ve always felt his methods work best with one of the weaker teams in the league. I can’t imagine you can go into a club & tell players who are on big wages that are some of the better technical players in the league to play his kind of physical football & to get them to fully buy into it.
