I'm sorry but 4th bottom is not an achievement or target met wake up and smell the coffee you lot, have you been brainwashed? Cryne dosen't want us to just survive each season he wants us to move onwards and upwards, now if we were comfortable in 14th or 13th and not looking over our shoulders i would say "good season, mid table finish fantastic" but that ain't gonna happen. Yet again at the turn of the year where we should have built on our excellent x-mas period we are sucked back into a relegation dogfight. Make no mistake about it, there isn't any easy games to go, and the games in hand (Palace, Blades and Cov) aren't guaranteed to get us a lot of points,in fact the two away games will give us jack s*it i predict, and i wouldn't mind predicting we only draw with Palace (we always seem to at home). Sit there at your PC''s and kid yourselves all night long that we will have done well to just survive and "we can't compete with the big spenders" well listen here folks Burnley, Preston, Swansea, Sheff Wed can't neither, but they are doing a hell of a lot better than we are. As someone said above, its the best squad we have had probabaly since Basset's days, and we are still getting results like the League 1 overachievers that we were when we first came back up. If you think progress is just staying up then you are sadly mistaken, this ain't the Premier League boys and girls where that would accpetable year after year due to the the big clubs to play against, the money and the sky coverage. Its the Championship!!! Remember the division we finished 2nd in that season, also the divison where we have spent the majority of our recent history. So don't get all small town and can't expect much on me okay, i was there when we got promoted, i was there when we turned the likes of Man City over at home and Birmingham in play-offs to reach Wembley for a place in the Premier league 9 years ago. We can expect better than just staying up and always will because deep down you know this division ain't that amazing, but the clubs with the shrewd managers who know the game succeed and are tactically aware enough to make sure their team do whats expected or overachieve we do neither (wicked)
RE: Speak for yourself ... Never ever done any thrusting or grunting after ale and curry. Just sit darn and art it comes like pea soup, it helps if your near the bog when sitting though. Round 2 later n could have mi squealing like a pig I suppose.
S.M. Thats rubbish Just to stay the same is not what is required , continual improvement is what we need, not just a continuous battle aginst relegation. feckin spelling
Got to agree Mark. Season-on-season improvement was what was said at the start of the season. Not sure if it was SD or PC, but more than certain one (if not both) have said it. I'm not one of the Davey out brigade, but I think he ought to leave at the end of the season - whatever happens. Player-wise I believe we have a much stronger team than the one he inherited - so that is testament to both SD and PC, unfortunately tactically Davey just hasn't got what it takes. Not really sure who's out there that would be a better appointment, but i'm sure there would be someone with proper tactical knowledge that would love the job.
if we went down... we'd be fighting another relegation battle next year. I really think so. I'm sorry, but if we don't finish 16th i think Davey will have to go.
RE: if we went down... I just think that staying up will be enough for PC after the way the season has panned out, starting with Colace and Hume and hopefully ending with Anderson. Not excuses, just reasons why our season could have gone better if there had been quality replacements every time. Davey is a part of PC's investment and it would cost a bit to get rid of him so I think while we are not going backwards (I know some will argue we are) he will stick with him until his contract is up.
Can we reivew this thread at the end of the season lets get behind the team.. and Davey (as much as it hurts me to say) review his position at end of the season
RE: He's had 3 year to prove it without pulling sd down, 3 year is too long to take our reds where they should be, he has made good signings & bad signings but along a steep & rocky road we are stronger now than 3 year ago BUT bottom half we are not more middle to top half with the players we have got. Tuesday night with 8 mins to go was back to the walls time & 3 points but no we stick with charity time, a point against a supposed " TOP 2 " side is good but 3 would have been better, tactically when we need it SD doesnt seem to have a clue how to close a game down, we will survive ive been right for last 2 seasons but fed up now of saying it.... ill say it again simon stick to the academy, thanks for your attempts but lets have somebody that knows what they are doing, we are better than relegation stuff
