Cantona, Cole, Yorke, Solskjaer, Sheringham. On a different page to Wellbeck.

Fergie was that happy he blew his seasons transfer budget on RVP.

Welbeck is crap. His goal scoring record for a striker that plays in a good team in a relatively poor league defensively with the amount of chances he gets is awful. He'd do well to score 10 goals a season playing every week in a mid premiership team.

Welbeck is more one footed than Heather Mills.

I think that says more about the current state of home grown talent than it does about his position on the world stage.

I agree with the initial thread and think Wellbeck, Cleverley and Smalling are good players but not England first choice standard.

But do you think Leighton Baines playeds much better than Ashley Cole when he came on?

I think all 3 Man U players are class!....cleverly who I rate highly.... There's only Man U that produce our home grown ENGLISH talent...rather than man city and Chelsea buying John foreigners....

Cleverley is a very good player.

    I always enjoy these threads.

We're saying here that possibly the greatest manager in the history of the game can't spot a good player to play for one of the best teams in the World.

It's like telling Brian Cox he doesn't know what gravity is.

Djemba Djemba? Kleberson? Fergie's not always right you know. He has signed, and played, some proper plums over the years.

No doubt about it. But they don't last long if they are rubbish.

Not really, Fergie has assembled a squad that's good enough to win the Premiership, nowhere near good enough to win the Champions League, Fergie knows that the above three players aren't a patch on that great era of youth players, Giggs, Scholes, Neville, Beckham etc.. times have changed at Man Utd since the Glaziers took over. Van Persie is the key difference this year in that otherwise pretty average squad on a Man Utd level.

Its all about catching Barca, Munich, Madrid etc these days rather than worrying about the noisey neighbours.

For every Scholes there was a Butt. For every Gary Neville there was a Phil.

Not saying those lads are outstanding by any stretch but they're as good as English players that are around at the minute. Tom Cleverley especially. Him and Wilshere could be our midfield pairing for the next ten years.

I think Fergie would rather have a Nicky Butt and Phil Neville.

I don't think English football is on a good level at the minute, if we make it to the Brazilian World Cup l'd be over the moon if we got out of the group stages. Be interesting to see how Uninted do against Madrid, it'll show what level these players are at.

The thing is - they're squad players for Man United. They're not first choice players. He doesn't need to play Wellbeck, Cleverley or Smalling cos he has at least two players in each of their positions who are much better. I'd say they were 3rd choice at best when the team is fully fit which isn't bad given they're being selected for Engladn

Cleverly compliments Wilshere, a good pairing when Steve Gerrard hangs up his boots.

Leighton Baines could play left midfield, great going forward leaving Ashley Cole to do what he does best, defending.

Strangely enough I was talking to Brian Cox in Asda last week, and he said despite his good performances in the Bourne trilogy and many other box office hits,he'd always had difficulty understanding how gravity actually worked.
