I am sure people are a little too battle hardened to think that he would perform miracles. In the first instance, keeping us up would be a miracle, and then we can see where that leaves people's thoughts. Very importantly for me, if we went down, if Wilson was in charge, people might rightly expect that we have a more than average chance of bouncing back from L1 - I see that glimpse of positivity being vital in the summer if we have gone down, to avoid people drifting away in droves.
I'd hope that most fans would accept that we were 'down' when the new manager took the reins - know what you mean though.
In this case, I think so yes. Otherwise, we may as well give it to Mellon. Surely it can't be deemed to be the new man's fault if we go down, we are already in needing miracle territory.
It wouldn't concern me if Morgan was brought in to do a job for BFC - either as Wilson's assistant or in his own right as a coach. What happened with Iain Hume was very poor by Morgan, but it was exactly the sort of thing that tough centre halves like him did throughout their careers without ever seriously injuring anyone. I don't believe for a second that he meant to damage Hume in that way, but I do believe the elbow was fully intentional. Regarding the aftermath, as soon as legal proceedings were mentioned it meant Morgan's right to reply was pretty much zero. Anything he said in the press (such as an apology) would be an admission of guilt. He had to go silent and wait for the whole thing to blow over - which a lot of fans took to heart. Chris Morgan used to dish out some tough punishment to strikers, but he also took his fair share without complaint (e.g. Juan Pablo Angel and Lee McCulloch). I was far more disappointed with the FA, and their lack of interest in such a pressing case. This year they decided to review the option of retrospective red cards after the Torres/Verthongen scratching incident...purely because it was in the PL. Jokers. Either way - I don't think Wilson would bring him if he got the job, it'd be a daft move if he wants to create that feel good factor.
Well I for one, am not most fans then. As of today, we are just 4 points adrift of safety, with 78 to play for.
OK with Danny boy coming back, but no to Morgan. "If Morgan come back, you could throw his left football boot back at him".
