    Re: The Customer relationship charter

It used to say something along the lines of 'ticket prices for cup games will be no more than for league games' but for a cup game they wacked the price up then when fans complained and pointed out what it said in the charter they simply ignored the complaints and sneakily changed the wording of the charter whilst leaving the 'written' date as much earlier. The supporters trust also ignored the complaints and reworded their copy without saying a word as well.

I didn't spot it, somebody else did.

If the club didn't do things like this though there would be nothing to spot.

    Re: The Customer relationship charter

You do talk some blinkered crap at times.
Here are the exact questions / points that were put to the club with regards this issue at a meeting between the club and the trust (looking back at my email) after the issue was raised by a member:

    1) Why are we charging £25 and disregarding the customer charter

    2) Why is it that a match against Manchester United is more money? I'm a Barnsley fan, I'm gong to watch Barnsley at Oakwell like I usually do. I don't care who we are playing it should be the same price.

    3) The game is on TV, we are in recession, its midweek and we will be playing Man United youngsters - is £25 realistic?

    4) Whilst the category system is well thought out to ensure Barnsley fans access to tickets - what happens come towards the end of the general sale phase and we've only sold 11,500 tickets because of the requirement to have a match ticket to be able to buy a Man U ticket?

Agreed the club overlooked the clause in the charter BUT there wasn't much they could do about it anyway.

As I remember, Manchester United wanted to charge more than 25 pounds having charged 41 quid for the previous round. The clubs agreed on 25 quid entry rather than go to the FA to decide which could have opted for an even higher price.

Clearly the club hadn't contemplated this scenario when writing that clause in the customer charter. IT was handled badly and simply changing it without explanation was poor IMHO but the charter was updated as the point wasn't something the club could guarantee.

THe charter also had another clause that gave the club carte-blanche to change ticket prices or arrangement by giving notification on the clubs website. So if you were looking at this as some sort of legally binding document then they were in the rights to make changes anyway.

Other points to take into account:

THe club had lost money on the previous 3 cup ties in the competition
THere were added costs policing / stewarding etc
5,500 Turned up for the previous tie against Burnley.

The charter has also just been rewritten. Not sure if it is on the website yet. I have a copy somewhere and could probably ask if we can publish it on here for comments.

As for the Supporters Trust "helped them". What a load of crap. THe point was raised with the club and an explanation was reported back to members at a fans forum.

    Re: The Customer relationship charter

I disagree the FA would never have gone for a higher price. If Man Utd offered to accept £25 and Barnsley thought £20 there is no way the FA would say £30, they would at the very worst side with Man Utd at £25.

My reason for saying that the supporters trust helped them was because the supporters trust reworded the charter on their website instantly as well.
