Portugal or Canada, based on countries I have visited. I fancy getting to know Italy too.

New Zealand or Switzerland, never been but both appeal.

Once got rained off in Kinsale so had to spend the day visiting the local hostelries - one of the best days at work I've ever had.:D

France, beautiful landscapes, history and food. Different enough and not too far to pop back to the UK.

With no research whatsoever on the subject I've always fancied Japan. Its certainly on my list of places I would to visit.

Cyprus or the Canaries from where I’ve been previously.

I couldn’t live in the States. I’d be about 40 stone within a couple of years.

Italy is the obvious one. There is so much to immerse yourself in and every region so unique to its own history and locality. But I'd treble in weight if I lived there and I'm not sure I could handle the heat in summer continually!

The thing I love and really miss from youth... proper seasons and winters in particular. Snow, cosiness, crisp air.

The places I've loved most with such winters are the baltic regions. And out of them I'd probably just lean towards Latvia. I suspect the language may be a challenge, but that could be overcome in time.

Beautiful architecture, proper forests, plenty of water, seasonal produce and quality food ingredients, tremendous value, a growing beer scene, a sad history but resolve in characters. People who at first seem a bit brusque and schleppy, but actually are friendly if you show interest, but leave you to your own devices if not.

    Yes, I think Latvia.

Went on a day trip there when on holiday in Rovinj. Most stunning place I have ever been. It was a long day but so worth it. We were talking about getting married there but as we were always planning to sneak off and marry in secret on our own we ended up choosing the more traditional runaway place of Gretna. I'd love to go back to Bled though.

It's amazing. We stayed in the Grand Hotel Toplice which sits right on the waterside. Views from the balcony were absolutely fabulous.

A few really, British Colombia ( canada)

    New Zealand ( South Island)

I lived in Cyprus for 2 years, I love the hot weather but after 2 months the novelty wore off and I was pi55ed of seeing the sun everyday as we are here with the rain, great for a 2 week holiday pegging yourself out on the beach but to work in it was hideous

The place I've spent time in, that I'd imagine would be the best to live in, is Bulgaria. Cheap price of living and great, healthy food. Four proper distinct seasons, from Mediterranean style heat in summer to snow in winter so you can ski, low population and large properly wild expanses of plains and mountains. Lots of history. You feel free living there.

Realistically, I think I will end up living in France as my wife is french and, you know, the crunch of a freshly broken baguette
