If you don't rate Davey then stay away next season.

Great post in general, but the above line sums the whole situation up perfectly to me.

    RE: Don't talk *****!!!

Your idea seems to be that people have it in for Davey no matter what. Actually - people want Davey to do well, they want the side to win football matches, and they want the club to prosper. No surprise then, when the team does well, people don't want to knock the manager (whoever he might be). When the does badly it is natural that people should criticise the manager - and when the side does really badly they should want the manager out - that's because the club comes first. If any genuine fan really believed that the manager was going to take the club backwards, get the club relegated, they ought to be calling for him to be taken out of his job.

I have no faith whatsoever in Simon Davey (as per my previous post) as a result of that I would like to see him either fired. I fear that he won't be fired and he'll make a repeat performance of this season, or maybe worse.

Well Zetland I've been at work all today devastated at what I read in the Chronicle and thinkin of all the times in the 50 years I've thought about packing in especially in the times of John Mcseveney and more recently Hart/Parkin/Spackman, but If Davey starts next season, which it seems he will, because it seems nobody has the guts to get shut, then I will be excersising my right of "choice" and going when I want to and when I deem The club is worthy of my support, so thanks for helping me make my mind up.

RE: Davey lost my support about ten weeks ago.

I understand what you mean by emotional attachment to the club - and I respect anyone who acknowledges this sentiment. I think my son who is Barnsley born and bred has a greater level of emotional attachment than I do (I was born in Poland to a Welsh mother and Scottish father)
I agree Simon Davey will move on one day.

This season many thousands of supporters have become unhappy with the team and the manager, many of them calling for Davey to be sacked.
Davey will be here in August and so will the thousands who called for his sacking. This is what I can't understand, what are people doing at Oakwell if they can't support the team on match day?
If all those who called for 'Davey out' stayed away, didn't renew their season tickets, it is very likely that Davey would indeed be on his way. Paradoxically it will be the presence of the anti-Davey group at Oakwell who will keep him in his job.

I don't differentiate between supporting the club, manager, players. Either you support the whole lot or none at all.

    Thanks

Davey will be there next season.
Presumably you wont be at Oakwell whilst he's manager.

Well that's fundementally where we disagree then.

If people simply wander away from the club when a manager is in charge that they don't like the chairman will get the message that the fans support of the club is unreliable and indifferent. If the fans turn up in support of the club regardless, but clearly voice their opinions and call for the manager out, they will show the chairman that the club has a solid and vocal base of support that can be built upon and that the change of manager will be supported positively (and might be worthy of the upheaval).

Next season I will pick and choose my matches like many others who could be convinced that a season ticket would be a good investment.

I have read some ***** on this BBS during the last couple of years but this post is the worst

Zetland , if I want to go I weill go , but if I want to stay away I mwill, freedom of choice, what I wont accept iss being told what I should do by an imbecile.

The thing that you fail to realize is that some of vus have been fans for so many years we can remember all the bad times and we dont want to go back to them, that is why we do not want Simon davey to be in charge next season, I have said all along he will be, but that is a different matter. You cannot tell people what to do, yiu cannot tell people what to think, just because some have a different opinion than yourself it does not make it any less valid.

Personally i will only be visiting Oakwell on few occasions next season, I have found something that I actually can enjoy doing on a sat afternoon, but I will always be a Barnsley fan, just not a Simon Davey fan.

Apart from calling me an imbecile I think your post is a good one!

Clearly you are unhappy with S.D. in charge and I respect your decision to suspend your support of the club whilst he remains in charge. This is the logical action for someone who thinks like you do. There's no point in going to Oakwell to show 'non-support'.

Take care mate - we need more honest people like yourself on this site.

Well you've got plently of bites to that one.

At the risk of sounding like a proper fan I've been a regular attender since 1971 and seen some good and bad managers Davey is not the worst we've had but definitely for me has had long enough. His tactics and play have made me miss the odd game I would have otherwise gone to but I will still be there next season.
Davey is a temporary manager - he will be gone sooner or later(probably by Christmas unless he surprises most of us and we are doing OK next year) but like many on here have said we support the club - not one individual

BRF probably put the best explanation and I agree with almost everything he said though I will almost certainly renew my ST regardless. What else am I going to do on Saturday afternoons
