so, you don't actually know then

just what somebody close to the people involved have told you. To know what had happened, you would have had to be there. Even if you had spoken to the people involved it would have only been their version of what happened. In this case, it's somebody's version of the version of the people that were involved. Perhaps you might think a little more before you claim to know what's going on.

 

Funny thing was

summat similar happened to me, and my mate got very vocal about not paying cos we'd basically been taken the wrong way and ripped off. The cabbie took us to where the bobbies hang out and called us all names under sun, including racist scum. My mate sells the Socialist Worker!!!!

 

When do we want it...

Why didn't the Taxi driver report it before now, or could it be that someone has just realised the 3 men are footballers and they may be a few quid to make out of it...

All speculation I agree... but if i had to bet on it I know where my money would be....

Leaving the racism out of it , what baffles me is

if three blokes in a cab leg it without paying, and the driver then reports that to the police, how do the police know who dunit, unless of course they were caught whilst legging it. Do the cabs have CCTV in them these days ? I seem to remember something about that ?

 

It could have been the cab used for Cab Quiz or whatever its called.

They may have in fact won money!

 

Whether or not they did it aside - practically speaking - this one could be difficult to prove. If one taxi driver is alleging against threeplayers (one word against three) he would need to show signs of injury which need to be linked to the three suspects - his allegation would need to be evidenced and corroborated. You're looking for CCTV, or at least good witnesses, or if the attack was nasty enough some forensics like the taxi driver'sblood on one or more of theplayers clothing. If it happenedafter midnight in a quiet residentialarea, and there is no cctv in the cab - they might struggle to bring a charge. If it happened in the middle ofSheffield city centre, atkicking out time, well lit with lots of people who have recognised them clearly...</p>

In any case- if it is a genuine allegation, and it really happened, I hope they get whatis coming. </p>
