There was this thing in the paper about John Cleese going to Palmerston North in the North Island and made a speech about it being a 'Suicide town' (it is sh*t).

The town responded by naming a rubbish dump after him.

Theres a way around the poor wages. You can easily get a job offer before you come out and negotiate English pay. PM if you want a bit more information.

    Not IF but WHEN....

..another few years and I'm off to Sunny Le Marche in Italy if the house is ever finished being renovated... (3 years and still counting!) I know Italia aint perfect but the climate and food sure beat 'blighty'. Telly is crap though other than the bimbettes on the endless quiz shows are easy on the eye. Retiring there though so aint the same as having to find work.

...and I'm off in the summer, government red-tape permitting. Got a job offer. Relocation sorted. Nice.

No more days of endless rain, no more rip-off petrol, no more unaffordable housing...

Listening to the Barnsley match at 2.30am in the morning might be a downer though!

Int it great to see Eaststander thrown into absolute confusion

Eaststander.............I love America because its this that and the other
This guy lives for another country...............America..............what the foooking hell for ?????????
We all know, and also the world knows it too, that the UK is the place to be. More people are trying to get into this country than any other country in the world
And to top it all there's all these posts on here of where people would emigrate to..............and none of them are America !!!!

Beleive me Eaststander................Australia is a better place to live than America
Done a lot of miles in America..........most spectacular scenery in the world......but wouldn't live there

Flamborough is the best, had a caravan there for 11 years now and planning to retire to the area. The air is just so fresh and the views are breathtaking.

What on earth are you on?!

    Confusion?! What confusion?

So other people would choose elsewhere, so what?!

The question was "If you choose to emigrate where would you go?" - Here's a thing....I'm in the UK ain't I?

Australia - not been and no great desire to, (then again I said the same about the US about 10 years ago) not saying it wouldn't be a nice place to live but not my choice.

p.s. "And to top it all there's all these posts on here of where people would emigrate to..............and none of them are America !!!!" - Last I heard NYC and Vegas were in America!

    There you go YN.

Lived there for 2 years, 4 perfect seasons - proper snowy winters, stflingly hot summers, shenandoahtastic autumns and a springtime that seems to come just when you need it. Also, and get this, the people are friendly and welcoming, and the kids (teenagers) seem to have a respect for elders and authority that our lot lost decades ago, and I include my own kids in that. Also, you have mountains and hillbillies to the left, beaches and coast to the right, history to the south and skiing to the north - all within a day trip of N Virginia.

I love England but thedowners that might push me away one day are:

[*]the growing number of unpleasant people (chavs and the appalling lack of respect the kids have for anyone, plus grown ups who think we still rule the world and 'tut' ignorantly at anyone from outside); and,[*]the non elected elite who stifle this country - members of the house of lords, MCC, LTA, RFU, FA. I know they aren't all non-electable but its all blackballing and masonic handshakes. **** the lot of 'em;[*]cost of living.[/list]

I'm going to become unemployed on 01.01.08 at 00:00:01hrs, voluntarily so I admit, but it feels like a good time for a reboot on life, or at the veryleast, a serious rethink.

In future, one word answers are fine AIRy.

In all seriousness that does sound ideal.
