    RE: The Boston Herald

The Boston Herald report was an (AP) Associated Press one. Others have come from (AFP). All respectable. Boston Herlad and others just take the copy and uses it. What is surprising is the lack of reports elsewhere carrying that same text. The Guardian, Times, Independent all use AP and AFP reports on their web sites, but this story went missing. I've mailed ITN, Channel 4, BBC, Guardian, Independent asking if they've mentioned this story and if not, why not. Like I said, it might be wrong but its not as if this story got any sort of prominence before it was said to be incorrect, it was basically ignored by the mainstream media. Question is, why?

    cheers both Windy and Zukkster

I can see where you are coming from,

appreciated it is, and I rather thought your version 1 was about at the level I could a) understand and b) about the right amount. so yes It does explain things.

I originally asked windy cos he seems to know a lot about these types of things, and in my opinion doesn't "beat around the bush" and says it in a genuine no bullshite way and gives his personal view to the bargain. (sometimes to the concequence of being harassed at times) but I genuinely appreciate the lad cos he does speak his mind, rather than agree with the majority or not post to keep out of the "i can't be arsed to argue" brigade.

you 2 may have your differences and bicker a bit at each other, but between you both I have managed to get a (in my view) a pretty decent and comprehensive look on the issue. So cheers, I am a lot better informed than I once was, so you could say I have achieved what I set out to, and would think twice about posting the "tongue in cheek" statement I did before.

I can also see why some people are now classed as ignorant, cos I could have not bothered asking the question, and continued to make the stupid remark about leving em to it, (so ignorant, yes, I probably was) it is clearly wider than that, and now having a better understanding, would probably still say, leave em to it.:pff . No seriously, I wouldn't have.

    One thing though,

I didn't mean for it to set off a debate between you, but I can see the funny side now...

But Jews and Christians are believers in the eyes of Mohammed as they share the same god.

    I blame Golda Mier.

And to think, I was going to put the defensive sheild up and have a pop at blademan for having a pop at my spelling, just shows that you really do have to read what people mean.

But, message in the post down below for ya as well...

    Another Stupid Question....

So exactly what have israel done wrong....

from reading this again and again, so it sticks in my mind etc...

as a result of the brits pissing off after the war, its a "all pile on israel". But surely they must have done something to upset everyone else, according to this, all they originally did was defend themselves, and by doing so ended up with more land.

or am I an arse in thinking, that this an arab/jewish thing and that one got so pissed off over the dividing of the land, they just attacked the other, only to be defeated and lose yet more land, of which is snowballs into the current crisis today..

    Am I getting their????

    RE: Another Stupid Question....

Nothing really as long as you take a simplistic view. If someone hits you then you are gonna hit them back, thats fair enough. However, all that happens is that a massive fight starts. What Israel need to do is to find a cleverer way of existing within the Middle East, I think they have to start being nice to their neighbours and keep being nice. Maybe I'm taking a simplistic view on proceedings too, but if their current way of doing things ain't working then try something else.

(and I'm on my notice period so I've got far too much time on my hands)

The one good thing to come out of this is that I can again now say a shithole "looks like Beruit". That phrase was starting to get a bit passe

Difficult to sit there and be nice to your neighbours, if many of your neighbours won't rest until you are "wiped off the face of the planet"!

It's one of those strange situations where I read views from one side and can empathise with those, and then hear views of the other side and can also empathise with those - I guess that is what makes the situation so difficult.

Aye, but most Lebanese were quite happy to live in peace as neighbours. I suspect most Jordanians and Egyptians are as well, work on those.

    Basically....

Israel is on land that the Palestinians say is theirs. The UN gave the land to Israel when the British left and all the fighting has been them trying to get the land back.

It's like a bloke who lived in you house years ago, coming back and saying "I used to live here, but my old house fell down so I'd like to live here again. I know we'll share this house. I'll take the lounge, kitchen and the bedroom with the ensuite.". Only the police agree and say yeah that's fine.

You can just imagine the fight over the remote control and whether or not you are watching Big Brother.

The Russians actually tried to cover up Chernobyl

and 'seeded' the radioactive clouds so they fell mainly over Belarus. The result in a quick summary that doesn't do the horrors justice.

    Both....

    but,

I will take one step at a time, managed to get a long thread, but if I post a real open question now on football, everyone will know what I am trying to do.

Maybe If I shouted, Nardiello... blah blah blah, that is always primed to get one going as their are so many fors and againsts etc..

So I will have to try and sneak one in, but the memorys of some people in here will manage to point it out...

So, I'll try and think of one for a few minutes/hours/days/weeks... who knows...

For a good long thread you need to get Windy and at least 1 other protagonist involved. Windy will keep it running and running.
