    No

But I believe he wants to get back in to management. He's not going to get a premiership club after what happened at Blackburn, but a championship club with a wealthy ambitious chairman like Mr Cryne at the helm? I think he'd jump at the chance.

RE: You backed him to the hilt too as I recall... nt

I did, I thought he needed more time, not realising he'd already chucked in the towel cos he couldnt stand the constant criticism and negativity from the fans any longer. And now hes a Premiership manager. Fancy that.

because he's made no secret of the fact that to do anything in the Championship you need to have deep pockets, which incidentally hasnt gone down well with the Forest board. We had two previous candidates who said they'd need a budget of £2million quid to keep us up before Davey was appointed. People seem to think Mr Cryne has suddenly metamorphed into Peter Ridsdale and is ready to piss his money away chasing the dream.

How much have we spent this season?

And were those two previous candidates of a "higher calibre" than Davey? Or should I say with more experience at the time?

    RE: No

Im 100% convinced Davey is a good manager, and has the makings of a successful one, and that he's earnt and needs time and patience and that is the path we should follow. That said, if it were my decision and I had to find a replacement, I'd be determined to bring a confrontational, ambitious, aggressive and out spoken black manager to this here backwater. Like to see oakwell (and his likes) views on appointing T'Guv'nor......

In my opinion no new appointment at all would be

    'confrontational'

I cannot see us having any sustained "continual improvement" with academy managers being appointed to first team managers.

Are you also saying Davey hasn't had a budget of £2million which other managers asked for....???

Add some experience to back room/coaching staff........

I feel that an experienced coaching staff is very important. SD is still learning his trade and I feel would benefit from the experienced head (former manager who has been there and done it). I feel that one of the key factors behind Hull's sucess last season (i.e. appointment of former managers Steve Parkin and Brian Horton).

One name that comes to mind is John Ward. I feel he would be decent candidate. A very experienced No.2 and also has experience managing in the football league. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Ward_(footballer)

Apart from that, I'd terminate Rigters loan if possible (to save some brass), and play an attacking 4-4-2 with wingers at home and the counter attacking 4-4-2 daimond away from home.

to me he's the only one of the 'named' managers I'd want..

... and he's probably the only one who'd take it. As for backwater... Macclesfield and MK Dons ? And as for Oakwell, let him think what he wants as he doesn't represent the views of the majority.

    No he hasnt

he's spent on transfers less than we've earnt. Cup money plus Howard sale = £2million plus. Do you think Billy Davies makes a habit of scouting in Malta and the Scandinavian sub continent for players? Look at what he spent at Derby.

    Correct, Dave.

It would be a bold appointment and would get the club "noticed".

Would he be any good though and how much would he want to spend?

As for morons like Oakwell, **** em. Like you say they are not the majority and they might start staying away...

    Does Davey...

and this is not a dig so don't get all offended on his behalf, actually go and see all these foreign based players or does he have connections to foreign scouts that recommend players to him?

    Change of subject but

one thing you cannot say is that he doesnt put in the hours. He's one of the hardest working managers around in terms of watching games and players, majority of which is totally unnoticed and never mentioned. Yes he has developed good connections with agents and representatives, all managers have to.

The 4 signings he's made in January - do you not rate them?

    I have no idea...

if that is true, I'd credit that it probably is, someone at the club has to forge links....fair play to Davey

As for the four loan signings, yes I do rate them and credit SD/PC for bringing them in. Backed to the hilt once again.

It does worry me that we won't be able to sign any of them because at the moment they look like they will once again improve the squad, but will look elsewhere perhaps come the summer. That sort of proves your argument but a lot could, even in this day and age of avarice and greed, depend on wether or not they like the place, the manager, the setup and of course the deal on the table.

We still need a left back and a "spare centre half" for me. Because Souza needs pissing off.
