Have you listened to the podcast that someone shared yesterday? Worth a listen. Basically our ground and our attendance can only be bettered by two teams* in the Austrian league, so as much as we see it as Europa League to Championship that's not how he may be looking at it. Leading a team out at some of the Championship grounds, fourth most watched division in world football*, isn't something to be sniffed at. If he keeps us up his stock will be super high. If we go down with a fight his stock will still be super high and he has the opportunity to bring us back next season. All of these scenarios put him in a better position for getting a bigger job than Barnsley longer term, so we're just a stepping stone. * I've quoted both of these from memory so apologies if they're incorrect
I can't imagine he hasn't requested videos of several games and sat and watched them as part of his decision making process.
It is one of the biggest leagues in Europe, even as a 2nd tier one. Admittedly there was a draw from his own club having European places, but as you say, bigger crowds, likely a better wage.
It’s a decent opportunity if we get relegated as seems likely he will be blameless if we come back up his stock will be high and learning his lesson from Daniel he will probably take the first opportunity that comes his way showing zero loyalty. So on balance a decent move
I'm on a long conference call where I am only needed intermittently so I checked your * items as a background task In fact only Rapid Vienna get higher crowds than us averaging 18,000, Graz are second with an average of just over 10, 000 and Red Bull Saltzburg 3rd with 7,600 - Wolfsberger get just below 3K so its a big step up in terms of the attendances he will be playing in front of - both home and away Its hard to quantify your second point - if you take total attendances I think you are correct - 3rd highest in Europe but we have more teams than most leagues. In terms of average attendances I cant find an accurate list - the most common google pops up doesn't have the championship but I think it should be around 9th Just behind the MLS - Last season the average championship attendance was just over 20,000 For TV viewing I cant find any accurate data
He can't *really* lose in my view. He's got to be up for 'The Plan', he'll have been recruited specifically with that in mind & if he keeps us up he's a miracle worker, if we go down it's not his fault & the likelihood is we have a good go at it next year. I bet he's earning a few quid like - be some nice bonuses in that contract & you've got to hope & pray we'll strengthen in Jan.
