I'd trim the squad immediately and change the recruitment policy. 22 players in squad topped up with youth team players where necessary. If there are injuries then look for loans during the transfer windows. If we had four strikers I doubt we'd be in this mess right now.
I’d sack the lot of them. It’s not working and if I don’t trust them now as a fan….I wouldn’t trust them as a business owner. Change the playing style which will also allow us to be a bit more direct whilst also not shopping for players in the same pond as everyone else. Recruitment has to be better so I’d bring back the traditional scouting system as well as using data. Allow the manager to bring in more of his own players. This is where we currently fall foul to me. We are currently so hell bent on using too much data which the other clubs have the use of the same system. I’d bring in a technical director to help who has vast experience in football. An older head perhaps who has crossed the transition period of football in the last 15 years. I know nothing about running a football club so I’d have to have an advisor. An ex chairman of a previous club helping me make the day to day decisions. Not fluking it like these lot we currently have in charge. Finally….I’d give Darrell the opportunity to use what I had implemented. I don’t think he’s a bad manager and he needs the right tools to succeed. If it goes wrong then my ideal candidate would be a bright up and coming manager. Doesn’t have to have titles to his name but would have to show me in an interview his plans and style on how to take the club forward. Remember……most of our successful managers at Barnsley FC were in their early management days.
We have loads of "experience" proper buzz word on this board. But we have loads of it now. I think we need more young hungry players.
I think the damage is done. The summer is when changes could be made. We should have used the departures of Cadden & Williams to come away from 3-5-2. Instead we’re persisting with the same system with inferior players. The fans want excitement. We should have gone 4-3-3 when we had the chance. Now we’ve doubled down on the system & signed more central midfielders & centre backs & not signed players comfortable as wide forwards or full backs in a back 4. Most of the exciting teams I watch play a 4-3-3 system. I don’t want to say I speak for everyone but I get the impression most of us want a bit of excitement on the pitch. We want some pace & to see a player try to dribble past his opponent.
Get rid of "experiements" and get the traditional manager/assistant & goalkeeper coach. Invest in the academy and community big style, but give the manager the sole right to his squad and matchday responsibilities. Have a competent club secretary that can oversee his/her team manage the day to day running and keep myself well away from any actual activities. I'd be there solely to make decisions in the best interests of keeping the Club going, leave the real work to the professionals, and make sure they're paid to do what is required.
Have you not just described the exact set up we have? Coaches we have all them, we invest heavily in the academy, we have a club secretary who when recruited came with a very good reputation, the Chairman employs professionals to do their specialisms. The only questionable ones are sole right and Community.
Yoganathon must be getting close to some game time, I was surprised that we didn't bring him on on Saturday. Jalo could have made an impact this season but his injury has ruined that.
When you consider the players that we lost from the first team last summer, Cole, Kane, Williams,Cadden,Roberts,McAtee, a fair chunk of wages must have been freed up to give Sormaz a great opportunity to reshape us. In my opinion the Jury is definitely out on him.
1 We have about 60 coaches currently. Can cut that down for a start. 2 He's hardly Spinks is he? 3 it's hardly producing anything of note lately, and League 1 is a good chance to give them game time, which we aren't doing. 4 they're interfering way too much
Clarke hasn't got the balls to Start the young ones he's given the likes of Cosgrove chance after chance. Only start jalos had is against united in the cup.
I'd apply to the court for administration as I don't have £8 million to cover the annual short fall and I'd need to protect the club from its creditors and a winding up order.
he also started Yoganathan in that game and also against sheff utd, played in the league game at home against Charlton . Problem for Yoganathan is that he’s in the one position we don’t really currently have space for a kid coming through to slot into although after watching Russell give up and fail to make tackles I wouldn’t be adverse to seeing him dropped out of our team.
Not disagreeing with what you put, just what you have put is what they are already doing. So you wouldn’t change anything just the personnel.
We had cash in the bank when PC sold the club and had a wage bill of £11m, we've now a wage bill of circa £5.5m and no cash in the bank, don't forget the money they are putting in is increasing their equity in the club they've also sold anything that resembles a footballer, they are not some poor hard done by people who aren't in part responsible for our financial state, the accounts also show they've put in somewhere around £10m of investment increasing their equity share, this 8m year in year out is a bit exaggerated at present Tell me how it coats £17m a year to run the club with £5.5m on first team wages, 68% of our costs are not running out on the pitch on a weekend
Not sure what you're trying to say. Are you suggesting that what we were recently told in the fan engagement meeting, plus the accounts submitted to companies house, are all a lie? And the reality is there's plenty of money?
Yoganathon looks to have something about him, he just needs opportunities and considering how bad we were on Saturday he must be getting close to a run out.
I’m sure they’d much sooner get automatic promotion than be struggling to get into the playoffs and losing money, so yes, I think they’d be open to the idea, if it guaranteed anything. If you look at the football league in general, there are few successful clubs, but loads that are struggling, most losing money, or not making much of a profit. If the answer is to get in someone from a bygone era, or appoint someone from a successful club, I’m sure they’d have done it.
Wouldn't have a clue and unfortunately I think that's is the position of the current board, they were thrust into the very situation you describe by Conman & co. They tried to do it to the best of there ability and failed,we are now in the early stages of phase two with them fetching in people with a football background to run things. Will that work out any better I've no idea but I think they deserve the time to find out after all it's them paying to find out.
