First thing I’d do would be to create a 51/49 German ownership model. Fill the corners of the ground in. Look what development money was available for the West Stand see if we could change it. If we can’t put all the peaceful away fans in it and use the ‘away end for home fans and only North Stand for bigger / idiotic clubs. Run a VFM exercise on all parts of the club. Remove some management layers off the pitch. Review the coaching staff from Head Coach down and make some fundamental changes. Trim the squad quickly and dramatically . No more than 22 plus home grown players. Look backwards towards a recruitment strategy that targeted players 23 and under with 100+ games with a couple like Roberts to add experience. Fast track any youth development players I thought were good enough.
How would I be able to quote the figures if I wasn't referencing the fan engagement? I think your getting your wires crossed, I'm not for a second suggesting money is disappearing, what I'm am highlighting on a thread about what you'd do is suggesting our cost base on non footballing activity is ridiculous and needs addressing. I'm also trying to give some clarity based on the actual financial accounts, which you are alluding I'm making out to be a lie, the fact is they've put in approx £10m to cover loses in return for increased equity in the club, which is different to putting in £8m a year is it not?
They said the difference between income and running costs is an £8 million defecit. They said player sales can help cover that shortfall. They said player sales this summer were nowhere near covering that £8 million. My answer to this thread was I don't have £8 million to cover the defecit if I took over. You challenged that so I asked you for clarification, I didn't allude to anything, it's clearly a question.
Player sales are structured to drop feed cash into the club we are still receiving monies from Kitchen and Mads and others.
Turnover is 9.5m (league 1) Wages are 5.5m (league 1) Why have we got a situation where the directors have needed to inject £10m over 2 seasons in return for equity? What's that shortfall made up of to the tune of £8m quoted by John Flatman ? If it costs 17m to keep the lights on according to John Flatman and our wage bill is 5.5m against a turnover of 9.5 what are we spending nearly 12m per year on? And why are we increasing staffing costs, I'm genuinely intregued BTW
For a start, then let the football people do their thing. And those ridiculous ticket prices can come down too
I don't know. I do know that we're looking at figures from 2 years ago and Flatman was quoting the budget for the current financial year. I know that since Covid my outgoings to keep the lights on have at least doubled, so would be very surprised if there hadn't also been a significant increase at the club. I also know that even if the £8 million quoted required some artistic accountancy, the losses filed at companies house that you have posted are significant, in the £millions, and I would still have to apply for administration if I got the club. That the losses were covered by buying shares for increased equity in the club makes no difference, I still don't have £10 million. And what are those shares actually worth now? I would suggest nothing. On paper they've bought a bigger stake in the club but in reality they gave the club money to cover costs in return for increased responsibility for a money pit that they'll be required to shovel more money in to. I'm always shocked by how much anything costs at a corporate level, be that building a bridge to cross a railway line or running a football club. I too would be very interested in where every penny goes. But it's clear that every penny the club makes is a long way short of covering the bills. And I'm not aware of any football club that, after cutting costs, has achieved greater success. It usually results in a rapid descent down the leagues.
Some of the £8 million is no doubt costs associated with the fact that the owners with the controlling stake in the club live in India and the USA so have to pay large salaries to people to run the club (very badly IMHO) day to day. We have a CEO a DOF a women who oversees the Administration, JAQs daughter with a made up job who must either work from home alot or could be racking up the air miles on an expense account or could be possibly living in club funded accomodation, Several heads of departments including the academy yet the club still appears to be run like a Sunday league outfit.
Big fan of the German model. However it’s only worked because everyone’s done it. The only exception being RB, who are widely despised because of it. Being the only Club running that model would probably put us at a huge disadvantage. If the Club is running at £10m+ a year, I can’t imagine 49% public ownership would fund £4.9m a season.
I think every non PL team will end up doing it eventually. The TV deal is going to decimate attendances in the next few years.
I think the Sky deal will prove to be a huge own goal. Fans haven't been given a second's thought. Treated with absolutely no respect. The Clubs have just gone after the money. However if/when that deal disappears, Clubs have a hug problem on their hands. Decades of fanbase binned overnight, which will be incredibly hard to win back.
Go all out for a big name player looking to move towards a career in management,,,. You never know it may have happened before
We couldn't have picked a worse season to struggle at home. Terrible performances coupled with loads of midweek games that people can choose to sit and watch at home have been a disaster for us. The club must already be concerned about how they're going to sell season tickets for next season.
I agree there will be concerns regarding next seasons ticket sales mate but I don’t buy into it being Sky’s fault. I said it loads of times on here that it’s being able to watch our games through a dodgy stream/stick that’s killing attendances. At least Sky pay us for the privilege whereas folks watching with dodgy are putting naff all into clubs coffers.
What you say about dodgy sticks is true but adding legit Sky coverage to the equation has surely made things even worse.
