Just seen your reply to them. Make sure you keep posting updates. I love it when the little man beats the big boys. Ps I reported a post which I think could get you in trouble maybe? Not sure if you saw it
The reason why the game wasn’t on ifollow yesterday was because it was broadcast live by ESPN in the states.
I've also had the same problem with Video and Audio. was told that while it may have worked in earlier games of the season to have audio and video simultaneously, this was an error that has now been fixed.
Yeah but I wasn't asking about that. My first email was sent before yesterday's game. Anyroad, it was available in some countries on iFollow e.g. Portugal complete with commentary and replays.
Am I missing something with ifollow abroad or could you end up paying over £100 for no coverage at all if every game was on TV somewhere in the world?
Big mistake to opt for the season pass. I jumped in without knowing all the facts (since they didn't really make any of them clear to you). Probably an issue to take up with the advertising standards authority if I don't get any joy. Interesting what they say about the lack of commentary in the stream being the club's decision. Have CC'd the media team in the emails so I'm sure to get a reply when they are back in the office.
Here are the iFollow TCs&Cs. I can't see mention of not being able to get audio and video at the same time can you? (Or opening two browser tabs) “iFollow” Terms & Conditions Last updated 6 April 2017. https://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/ifollow/subscribe/
I'm still annoyed that it wasn't clear that the season pass is longer an annual pass. I resubscribed on the 23rd of September when my last year's service ran out but it says that my subscription will end on the 16th July. Does that mean if I sign back up on the 17th July I will then get a full year's service until the following 16th July? If someone signed up today for a season's pass (or indeed on the 15th July for a season pass), would it still cost the same but run out on the 16th July? It's all just guess work with them. I wrongly presumed that I would have coverage of the full pre-season but now it looks like it will end during the friendlies.
I had a look at that the other day and u less I'm going blind I can't see an option to sign up for a year or a season any more. Just an option for a monthly pass at £4.49 a month which would be £53.88 a year
Interesting. It would be useful to hear from anyone who may have signed up recently and when their subscription runs out. I wouldn't have realised except for stumbling across the section that told me by accident, I'd have never thought to check as it's always been a straight year.
I've had Barnsley Player for years and years and never had a problem. When it changed to IFollow I duly signed up. Since then, I've had nothing but problems. It's a truly appalling service and I shan't be renewing purely because, I don't receive the service I'm paying for. To be locked out abroad for audio when I'm a paying customer and then every single time have to battle to log in is too stressful It's useless and not fit for purpose.
I agree Tina. It’s much worse than Player was costs more doesn’t let you listen to other matches doesn’t work abroad unless you pay again even for just the commentary doesn’t always work in the U.K. I never tried to stream video abroad but it sounds like that’s a poor service as well. The one I particularly liked is if you log on on one laptop then shut it down without actually logging out of iFollow. You can’t log on again on another laptop / iPad. The advice I got from the support was to logout from the original laptop before I used a new device. Just great if it’s 200 miles away. Stuck with the annual contract but am unlikely to renew unless something changes for next season
Really hoping something changes for the better, I can’t get to games and being able to watch live is an excellent way to stay in touch when it works.....
I'm going to try it one last time again this aft. It's madness having to choose between the commentary and the video though. Can't see any logic in that policy at all. We all know it's not the club's fault, and indeed the club's media output is fantastic and still improving. I hope one day the club will be able to provide its own independent "paid for" media service. The iFollow service is completely laughable - after 40 years working with computers and IT, I've never seen anything like it. Whoever decided that it is "fit for purpose" must have a few cups missing from his/her cupboard. It simply doesn't work.
100% Had the delightful experience of buying a washing machine from a catologue. Upon it being faulty i was asked to contact the manufacturers directly. No chance. I ended up going through that citizen's advice. My complaint was purely down to not having to contact a 3rd party. My contract was with the catalogue company. After 6 months.... yes 6 month's. I won. The catalogue company simply called the manufacturers themselves to sort it. Very syressful and long winded. But i had to stick to my principles. Got a full refund and "interest" paid back. Eventually. Account now closed.
Just to correct my earlier reply, audio commentary is (in theory) available for all matches, even those selected for live TV. it's the live video that's blocked, not the audio.
