Mortgage rates at around 4% are here for a few more years - so that all of the folk with low rate 5 years fixed (who still have around 18 months left) are in the system at the new level!

Best question on last nights face off between starmer and sunack was when a chap said basically you are both crap is this the best leaders we have to represent this great country. Got to say they are both very poor leaders no qualities of leadership at all.

In politics in this country lying has become normalised. The biggest worry is that the general public also now seem to accept it as the norm. Yeah people make light comments but not enough to change anything. There is no consequences. People will still vote for institutional liars. The Tories this last few years have raised the bar on lying and its now a known part of their modus operandi. But we accept it as voters and at best try to vote for the ones who lie least!!

Sad state of affairs. British politics is crying out for a relevant and credible alternative party for the big 2. We can’t seem to find one and if there is a nucleus of one emerging then the public don't back it. As a collective voting public we get what we deserve.

I dont just think its localised to our country mate. I think its basically every country nowadays. A lot due to how quickly it can get figured out due to social media

The fact is that if they told the truth about the economy and their ability to change things no-one would vote for them. Neither major party wants to fix our broken democracy because they both benefit from it.

Some people have genuine reasons for cancelling so you'd need a fines and appeals procedure to deal with genuine grievances. That creates a world of work, and cost for already busy surgeries.

    Why not target wealth?

I'm all for raising taxes on the 1% of households that own 23% of the wealth in the country, rather than taxing the 50% who own just 10%.

Your depiction of CGT isn't true. Taper relief applies over the period of the gain, the longer an asset is owned, the more any gain is reduced.

The threshold is also £325,000. So your example is completely inaccurate as CGT wouldn't apply at £150,000. Please be accurate. I'm sure you don't want to intentionally mislead or scare people unduly.

You've got to target the working class, the boots of them that go private taste too good.

If people miss g.p appointments multiple times then I agree they should be punished.

My daughter missed 2 dental appointments, 1 was because she was travelling from Rotherham and the bus was very late and they wouldn’t reschedule ,forget what he other reason was. Anyway she was struck off that particular surgery’s list.

Yes I'm lucky enough still to have a nhs dentist. I know if I missed 2 appointments on spin I'd get struck off.

Electoral Calculus have been very accurate over the last few elections and updated their predictions today. Lib Dems expected to push the Tories hard to be the party of opposition and Reform taking 19 seats, including Barnsley South.
