I try to avoid Currys and the DSG International group in general these days. Was sold what they called a 'Media Centre PC' a couple of years ago or so I thought. Turned out that they thought that putting Windows XP Media Centre Edition on a PC made it a Media Centre PC. The motherboard and graphics card inside it wasn't as stated and among other things couldn't connect to external media. When I complained and pointed out that I couldn't do what the manual said I should be able to - or what the advertised name of the PC suggested I could - they said the manual was generic and they could call a PC whatever they like. The manual wasn't generic, it was specifically for the model number I was supposed to have bought, a model that could be connected to a TV. They wouldn't budge an inch and I ended up later fitting a different graphics card that would connect to the TV.

they are allowed to advise on insurance but to what extent is down to their compliance. Althought he isn't allowed to hardsell.
