RE: They can't stop you in your own home and another thought, if a person is lets say terminally ill, and has to go into a hospic, what right has anyone to take away probly their only pleasure
RE: They can't stop you in your own home And what right does has a person have, dying or not, to inflict smoke and long term health problems on a person that is trying to care for them.
I agree about the nanny state, but smoke is killing other people, not just the person that decides to smoke. It has to be stopped and I can't wait for the ban to start.

and then when everyone lives longer.... work longer... more deductions in pensions etc just when do people want to stop moaning and banning everything and then moan because they have to work longer and all that B*ll*cks... its one or the other, not both
Bleedinghell I didn't used to smoke that many on a friday night session

Mind, my nanan used to smoke 60 a day Parkdrives

Why is it one or the other? People can still smoke all they want, they just no longer have the right to inflict it on other people.
Smoking ban or not, people are living longer, and advances in medical science means that will continue to happen. How that is handled is a different question, and one which I have no idea of the answer to.

RE: Why is it one or the other? I was trying to point out that banning smoking outright would just add to the "live longer" problem thats all... It was a general sweaping statement about all things people trying to ban that it would add to the problem with pensions etc we just live in a world where people more or less live in the "cake and eat it" scenario I don't know how to explain it, but I know what I was trying to say, maybe when my brain cells have re-created the destroyed ones I may be able to give a better answer
It's ok They'll just smoke in the doorway so you get a lung full on your way in or out! When I was in New York I was in a bar and it was pissing down outside, when I left the porch way had half a dozen people crammed in all smoking! It was worse than if those people had been in the bar! Next thing ought to be banning smoking whilst driving.
RE: It's ok like they did with mobile phones, that one aint worked, and then go to extream of banning car radio's cos they can distract your attention, but its ok to take your eyes off the road to look at sat nav
RE: SMOKING BAN IS RIDICULOUS! i,m a non smoker and i agree, totally ridiculous and nobody will convince me otherwise!what next a ban on motor cars because they cause a hell of a lot more damage than cigarette smokers.
RE: It's ok sorry but it,s getting like russia used to be.you driving your car and people having to breathe in your exhaust fumes what damage are you doing polluting the atmostphere,no thats ok isn,t it!
RE: It's ok as a smoker I will learn to live with it, but who will run the bar while the landlord goes out for a drag
What about drinking coffee whilst driving? Ban it, got to be worse than phoning, red hot liquid spilling about. Eating a yoghurt, carnage if spilled, causing panic to driver, especially if new trousers / new car. Ban it. Radios, fiddling about with channel / volume. Ban it. Ban everything. Even ban banning, it's dangerous, people will get upset than everything has been banned. Banning, got to be banned.
RE: What about drinking coffee whilst driving? correct, ban everything apart from BBS, cos then ther'd be **** all to do
ask all the asthma sufferers how they feel it kills me when im in a smokey pub. Not on at all. Why should non smokers have to put up with it? I cant wait a tell thi!
