Aye well said. When I first went to see the mighty reds under Jim Ileyout I went to 6 matches before we scored. I was only little and didn't even realise that was what we were trying to do at first. A fans a fan for life they don't blow with the winds. I've seen worse. I've seen better. Anyone who thinks this lots crap should have seen Willy Ferry in his 'prime'.
Yes we have, you're just not old enough...wet tuesday nights losing at home to Southport and Barrow in the old 4th division...knocked out of the cup by Rhyl....this looks like a golden age compared to those days.
For me the last time we went down I wasn't really old enough to get what I'm getting now. Now I work with Leeds fans, Wednesday fans and so on and so on and I've had nothing to shout about really apart from a cup run and promotion from the pub league in my time. Plankton Pete, unless u work away from Barnsley and put up with what I have done from rival fans for too long it gets to you. Working in Barnsley with Barnsley fans you don't feel the embarrassment at all. Just feel every season is a complete struggle, which then turns to embarrassment. And even if we do well in league 1, it's not good enough as we'd be in the pub league. And my dad pointed out football in the 60's and 70's was a lot more enjoyable with the passion in the crowds. He has had a season ticket for longer than my lifetime and even with a season ticket he's not been to Oakwell about 4 times this season. Essay over.
