The guy is approaching his 78 th year. A new regime means change. Maybe he just hasn't got the energy for all the changes that are about to occur. He's been a steady hand on the tiller and has been a big help to PC during an extremely difficult time. Probably thinks it's best to leave now and put his feet up. I'm sure he leaves with the best wishes of the majority of Reds fans for a job well done. Zaijian He Xiexie Maurice.!
Really don't see why this is an issue. He's not a Barnsley supporter. When he was brought in it was stated that one of his tasks was to help identify new oweners. Presumably job done so why would he stay?!
What did he ever do for us? That's not me being accusatory or belittling his role, it's just that I have no idea. Does anyone have any definitive evidence that he had a positive or even negative impact during his time here. I know his name, I know he's a solicitor and he is involved with a number of sports clubs from numerous disciplines, but the only thing I remember him being directly attributed with during his time here was being a major factor in bringing Dale Jennings to the club.
Totally guessing but if he's been told the new owners are installing their own man (or woman), which you'd expect they would, that Watkins would much rather walk than appear to have been forced out.
Yeah, nowt against the bloke but in 3 seasons I wonder how many games he's attended? Probably count it on our twelves fingers.
